French Country Living Furniture

    View:
Cobbitty boasts serene country living, old-world churches, and an arts and crafts market that really needs to be visited at least once (but we know you'll go back over and over again!).

Cobbitty is located just over 60 kilometres from Sydney, and you can plan a relaxing weekend in a B&B, visit the markets, and stroll the quiet country streets all within an hour's drive, or fifteen minutes from Campbelltown. The Markets, held on the first Saturday in the month, boasts a wide range of food, arts, crafts and home-made goods. Get there early to grab the best of what's on offer, but rest assured that if you don't get there until later, what's left will be just as special. There are several more markets around Campbelltown and even nearby at Liverpool and Moorebank, if you are so inclined. Make a weekend of market shopping, and base yourself at Cobbitty for some peace among the business.

Sunday sees Menangle Market open, offering trash and treasure, so make sure you set aside a good half day to browse the stalls. Another market offering hidden gems amongst the rows is the Grand Bazaar at Prestons. A little further from Cobbitty, but worth the drive if you are looking for a good bargain.

Remember your Cobbitty weekend by stopping at the Cobbitty Garden Centre, and purchase a Cobbitty Daisy, developed by the University of Sydney (which has a campus at Cobbitty). The Cobbitty Daisy is a pretty flower, available in several colours. To attract butterflies, birds and bees, plant a few Cobbitty Daisies around your garden and watch the wildlife flock in.

The University of Sydney Cobbitty Campus teaches agriculture and veterinary sciences, and also has a veterinary hospital for sick pets and livestock. Pick up all your pet supplies and ask for advice for your furry loved ones.

Locals know all too well about the little gem that is the Cobbitty Winery. Run by the Cogno Brothers, the family who also own Middlebrook Winery in McLaren Vale in South Australia, the winery has a great range of different red and white table wines and sparkling wines, as well as fortifieds. Don't be put off by the exterior, most everything is done on the premises and it is purely a family business. It is definitely a must see, though, and must-try - just don't forget to taste in moderation, and keep Cogno's Cobbitty Winery a secret. We don't want it getting out!

They say that to know a person better, you must take a look at that person's house. That is true in most cases; ideally, the house reflects the inhabitant's personality. Since the house is the place where most people unwind, it is but normal that a person should feel most comfortable in his own home.

Furnishing an empty house can be a pretty daunting task. After all, one can get a little overwhelmed with the blank space. One of the more challenging rooms to furnish is the living room. Since this is the room that greets the guests, choosing living furniture becomes more challenging. Some people employ an interior designer to help out in furnishing the living room Interior decorators saves you the hassle of going through countless living furniture. With interior decorators, your furniture choices are already narrowed down to a manageable list of options. They know which pieces will work best with your space.

When one decides to work with an interior decorator, you must tell the decorator what you actually want. The living room and the living furniture should reflect your taste, and it should be a collaborative effort between you and the decorator. Don't hesitate to tell the designer if you hate the furniture he or she has picked out. It's your room you're talking about, and you have to be really happy with the outcome. If you keep mum about your opinions, you'll regret hiring a decorator in the first place.

While working with a decorator is hassle-free, there are other people who want to decorate their own living room and choose their own living furniture. This is no easy feat, but it's not really impossible. All it takes is a little ingenuity and creativity.

If you want to decorate your own living room, you have to have a clear idea of what you want the room to look like. The trick is to know exactly what you want; you can start by cutting out from magazines the pictures of living furniture you like. That way, you will have a guide when choosing your furniture. Start by choosing a theme to apply to the room, and then decide which pieces would work well with your theme. Whether traditional or contemporary, you'll surely find something to suit your taste.

Most people start the project by buying a major piece first, like the couch. This piece of furniture will more or less dictate what the rest of the pieces should be. When buying big pieces, keep in mind the space you have in your living room. It pays to measure; otherwise, the piece will just be a waste if it can't fit inside your living room.

Another thing to remember is stick to the theme you have chosen for your living furniture. This will help you get a more cohesive look. Although some styles call for some quirky mismatched furniture, there is more to that style than just combining the first pieces of furniture you get your hands on. Sticking to the theme would also help you stick within the budget. If you are focused on what you are looking for, there is a slim chance that you'll end up spending for something you won't use.

The furniture should also agree with your lifestyle. If you rarely have time to clean the house, look for furniture that requires little maintenance. If you have small kids in the house, choose pieces with rounded corners to minimize accidents. Most importantly, make sure that the living furniture you choose is comfortable. That way, you'd be really able to relax in your living room.
