Rather than trying to soak up all the rays all at once, schedule several small tanning sessions so you can gradually build up your tan and prevent your skin from getting damaged. Most tanning sessions range anywhere from ten minutes to 30 minutes depending upon your tanning history and your skin type. When just starting out, ten minutes should be plenty of time.

If you suffer from any kind of health problems, it is best to get your health cleared by a physician before you start engaging in indoor tanning. It is best to avoid wearing perfumes or cosmetics when indoor tanning. Many tanning beds won't allow customers to wear cosmetics while tanning, but will provide them with facilities where they can put on makeup afterwards. Protect Your Eyes

Your eyes can easily become damaged while tanning if they are not properly covered. It is even possible for the ultraviolet light to penetrate through your eyelids and damage your eyes. Therefore, it is best to wear special protective eyewear and be sure to keep your eyes shut throughout the entire tanning session.
