The question I get asked all the time as a personal trainer is that "How do you get a six pack?" Especially at the beach, everybody just flock to me with this question. Well, I'm gonna tell you my "secret". It really is no secret, it's just bascially some common sense, implemented by some dedication. And you will have a six pack like me in no time! No joke!
To the question, "How do you get a six pack", I say first and the most important is not any abs exercises, but your diet. Why you say? Ask anybody, ANYBODY with a nice six pack and they will tell you maintaining this ripped look is no easy task. It requires a strict diet regime. Unless you are an athlete who does hours of cardio exercise everyday. Keep your diet very clean. Lean protein, whole grain carbs, no sweets, simple carbs and alcohol. Also eat plenty of veggies and fruits (with a low sugar content). Drink mucho water to keep your body stay hydrated.
The easiest way to get a six pack are running and cycling. Weird I know. But go to any marathon or even your local spinning class. Hardcore spinners all have very defined flat abs. It is because the cardio they do shed the layer of fat on top of their abs muscles. You can do the same by following their examples. If you hate running or cycling, swimming and basketball all work very well. Get in a habit to do at least 45 minutes of intense cardio 2 to 3 times a week and your metabolism will skyrocket.
Last but not least, working your abs. You don't need to do hundreds of reps to get nice toned abs. Actually I spend less than 10 mins a day working on my abs muscles. Remember to work your obliques as well as your lower abs and upper abs. You can't just do hundreds of crunches and expect to see ripped abs. Crunches alone cannot burn fat. What it does is you're training your upper abs mucles beneath, and if you have a layer of fat on top of it, your ab muscles will never show.
