Eating out provides a chance to celebrate or socialize, an opportunity to experience new cuisine, to have some fun with whole family or kids or just to give them some extra pleasure, or just an excuse to avoid cooking. Whatever the reason, dining out is a national pastime in Canada. In fact, studies estimate that the typical Canadian eats away from home about five times a week, spending a third of their food budget in restaurants. Eating out is becoming a trend these days.
A Few Things to Decide
You have to decide a few things before going out for dining, like where do you want to eat? What style of restaurant you are going to choose? What type of cuisine you like? How will the meal be prepared? As people adopt a healthier lifestyle, the answers to these questions become more important. Canadians want foods that are healthy as well as tasty. If you eat out only on special occasions, enjoy your meal and eat what you want. However, if you eat out often, it is important to choose wisely. So, how do we make the best choices when eating away from home?
Stress on Low Fat Food
Cutting back on fat is the most important - whether you eat at home or out, order food that is broiled or poached rather than fried or breaded. Cut back on the amount of butter or margarine used on bread. Try low fat or no fat salad dressings whenever
You can. Sauces and gravies are high in fat; order them on the side and use as little as possible. Choose whole grain breads, cereals, pasta, rice, beans and lentils more often. They are low in fat and high in fibre.
Utilize Your Consumer Power
Consider restaurants that have received the "Eat Smart Award". They meet high standards in nutrition, food safety and non-smoking seating. As consumers, we have a lot of control over the foods available to us in restaurants. Times are changing and the restaurant industry is beginning to recognize the importance of providing foods that are low in fat. This is due in part to restaurateurs responding to customer requests for healthy dining choices. So remember, if low fat choices are not on the menu, do not hesitate to ask the service. Only by our continued requests will we see more healthy food choices.
Guide To Eating Out
Since I have ventured into mobile dating, I noticed that most of the couples' first dates take place either at a restaurant or a caf?. The pairs who had met each other through mobile dating understand their need to meet each other face-to-face so that they would know more about each other. However, many of the first dates that took place in a caf? or a restaurant have gone awry because either one of the couple had ordered the wrong meals or dishes. As a result, their attention was diverted to the food in front of them instead of their dates across the table.
When planning your first date, it is best that you have agreed on the place and had thought about the food you will order beforehand. If you are not familiar with the food served on the restaurant you have selected for your first date, it is a must that you research about it first. If you can find their menu over the internet, that's even better. Else, you will have no other choice but to go there prior to the date so you can check the place out and try the dishes that they serve. The first date of new couples is very crucial. You don't want it spoiled by minor things such as the food that are served on the table.
One time, I agreed to a date with a guy that I met through mobile dating. We agreed on a German restaurant. It was an unfamiliar diner and the foods listed on the menu have funny sounding names. The hamburger is the only food in the list that sounded innocent and I am familiar with so I choose to order that. When the hamburger came, I came face-to-face with a gigantic piece of meal ? it was a very big burger with a pound's worth of vegetables, meat, and sauce. It is very hard to consume the whole dish without staining my face and the table. It was very embarrassing! Don't make the mistakes that I did. When gearing up for a first date, it is a must that you perform a background check on the restaurant so you can ask the waiter about the foods that you are not so familiar about and try the ones that you know you can eat.
Alcoholic drinks should also be taken in moderation. If you overindulge yourself, you might do things that are uncalled for and further embarrass yourself. When it comes to restaurant menus, the safest food choices are salads and dishes served with either rice or potatoes. In conclusion, try to avoid foods items that can be hard to ingest and stay away from drinks containing too much alcohol. These foods, if you really have to take them, can wait until the next few dates.
