The latter, it seems, is how the concept of the Halloween celebration came about, with children's wearing all manners of costumes featuring popular ghosts, ghouls, goblins and monsters, while going from door to door seeking “sacrifice”, no longer in the form of bones, but confectioneries like sweets, chocolates and gums.
