"Survival of the fittest" has no better application than in Forex trading, especially for individual traders. It's every-man-for-himself in the markets. Either you show up with your A-game or you're going to lose money in the markets. Those that are 'fit' thrive, while those that aren't struggle to survive.
Forex trading is highly competitive, with everyone fighting for every dollar flowing through the markets each day. It's certainly not easy and definitely not for the squeamish or weak-at-heart. Those that trade careless or reckless become prey for the better prepared. Because of the dog-eat-dog nature of Forex trading, it exemplifies the societal and free-market notion of "Survival of the Fittest."
For individual traders, your trading business must be very fit, because of who you're up against. In addition to the all other individuals traders, many of whom are seasoned veterans, you also have the large corporations, institutional investors and international banks. It's almost like you're David, up against all the other Davids plus a whole slew of Goliaths.
Being fit means more than having a reliable system, broker or signal service. In order to survive and make a good living at currency trading requires that you approach your trading as the business that it is and have your business truly in order. Businesses that aren't treated as businesses fail in any industry, and it is especially true for your Forex trading business. Fail to treat your trading as the business that it is, and it will likely remain only a writeoff instead of an income source.
So how do you treat your Forex trading as a business?
First thing to do is to recognize that trading IS a business. Just because it's only you and the markets doesn't mean that it's just something to do to make money. Trading is a skilled, self-employed profession and NOT an entry-level occupation. You must adopt the mindset of being in business, and put in place the systems and formalities if you want to have a truly reliable source of income.
Next is to approach it as you would if you were starting a business, including many of the same things that you'd do in any industry. Some soul-searching to find the right strategy and markets to trade would be in order. Next you'd need to make sure that you have the skill set to compete effectively in that industry in your chosen capacity.
The third step is to do some research to make sure that your business model is viable. This means doing some research and analysis so that you can make reasonable projections and have faith that your expectations are realistic.
The final step is to put together an actual business plan for your Forex trading business. It can be very comprehensive and detailed or fairly concise and simple, but this act alone is one of the most beneficial actions a person can take when choosing to become a trader. Sure, there's money to be made in Forex currency trading, but that can be said about almost any industry. The 'fit' traders that approach the endeavor with a well-thought out business plan give themselves the best odds of surviving and enjoying all that the their business has to offer.
With the dog-eat-dog nature of trading where it's essentially you against the world, you need every advantage you can get. Get your Forex trading business in order and make sure that you are among the fittest so that you will survive and thrive in the competitive world of trading.
The challenge for many individual traders is that they've never started their own business before, plus they probably haven't had any experience in their lives that really prepares them for trading. The fastest way to get your Forex trading business in tip-top condition and ready for the jungle is through good training from a trader with business mindset approach, not simply training on how to use a specific trading system. The system is but one small part of the whole business.
Headhunters Survival Of The Fittest
Some of the most watched television programs today deal with the human ability to survive in the most bizarre wilderness circumstances. Mankind has been faced with the problem of how to exist in a world that seems to present us with so many obstacles. The simple acts of eating and staying warm were two of our earliest challenges and today those things have not changed.
There are many interesting programs that are on various television channels that depict what it must have been like for early man to deal with these challenges. Shows like these can often be seen on cable or satellite television channels like The Discovery Channel and The History Channel.
The interest in early man's survival skills are not the only ones that are holding an interest for people today. One of the most loved and watched television series on right now is Survivor. This program comes on the CBS broadcast network and has been syndicated to other cable channels. It is one of the most successful reality shows to date.
Survivor deals with people chosen to be on the show and they are divided up into tribes. The Survivor shows shooting locations are always in extremely remote places where the contestants, who are competing for one million dollars, have to test their survival skills not only to prove themselves, but also in competitions with the other contestants.
The show is filled with not only surviving the elements, but with the intrigue that goes on between the contestants. Alliances are formed and broken in an attempt to be the last remaining survivor and winner of the game.
There are two other popular shows that place their stars in remote locations where they are on their own. Man verses Wild can be seen on The Discovery Channel. The guide, Bear Grylls, is dropped off, usually by helicopter, in places like The Moab Desert, The Swiss Alps, and the jungles of Cost Rica. He must use his skills and knowledge to make his way back to civilization.
Survivor Man can be seen on The Science Channel. Les Stroud is the host or guide in this program. It is very similar to Man verses Wild. Both of these guys only have the few items that they are stranded with and must figure out ways to make them the most useful. They can teach you how to find edible food and drinking water in the weirdest circumstances and how to make shelters and build fires.
If actually being stranded in the wilderness is not for you , but you still find it interesting, then watching these kinds of programs is probably as close as you really want to get to a real survival situation.
