High blood pressure is also known as hypertension. It happens due to high pressure (tension) in the arteries. The arteries are the vessels that carry blood from the pumping heart to all of the tissues and organs of the body.
According to recent estimates, nearly one in three U.S. adults has high blood pressure, but because there are no symptoms, nearly one-third of these people don't know they have high blood pressure. Once high blood pressure develops, it usually lasts a lifetime. The good news is that it can be treated and controlled.
In some people and as we get older, these changes in blood pressure start to happen at higher pressure levels than normal and this is what high blood pressure means.
Causes of The top number, which is called the systolic pressure, represents the pressure when your heart is beating. The bottom number, which is called the diastolic pressure, shows the pressure when your heart is resting between beats. Normal blood pressure is below 120/80; blood pressure between 120/80 and 139/89 is called ?pre-hypertension?, and a blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered high blood pressure. If your systolic blood pressure is consistently 140 or higher or your diastolic pressure is 90 or higher, you have high blood pressure and should talk with your doctor about the best ways to lower it.
In the remaining cases, high blood pressure results from a recognizable underlying problem. This is called secondary hypertension. Some possible causes are a kidney abnormality, tumor of the adrenal gland or congenital defect of the aorta.

*If possible drink a glass of raw beetroot juice 2 times a day, for at least a week.
*Take about 25-30 curry leaves and make a juice and use 1 cup water. You can even add on limejuice to it for making it tastier. Strain and drink it in the morning.
* Regular exercise is good for high blood pressure. Try to do it moderately though. Swimming, yoga, jogging, dancing, etc. is very good for you.
*Vegetables should be eaten raw as often as possible, and cooked vegetables should retain the rind for maximum effect. Cucumber, carrots, onions, cabbages and radishes contain essential oils that are proven to help patients with high blood pressure.
*Indian gooseberry is another effective remedy for high blood pressure. A tablespoon each of fresh amla juice and honey mixed together should be taken every morning in this condition.
High Blood Pressure Home Remedies

1) Parsley is useful in high blood pressure. It contains elements, which help keep the blood vessels, mainly, the capillaries. It keeps the arterial system in a healthy state. It may be taken as a beverage by simmering 20 gm of fresh parsley leaves gently in 250 ml of water for a few minutes. This may be taken several times daily.
2) A stuff extracted from watermelon seeds is having a definite action in dilating the blood vessels, which results in lowering the blood pressure. The seeds, dried and roasted, should be taken in liberal amounts.
3) Indian gooseberry is an effective Home Remedy for High Blood Pressure. A tablespoon each of fresh amla (Indian gooseberry) juice and honey mixed together should be taken every morning.
4) Eat two cloves of garlic as first thing in the every morning.
5) Slice a raw beet and squeeze fresh lemon juice over it, refrigerate during the night and eat one slice per day to lower blood pressure.
6) To lower blood pressure, add grind olive leaves into a cup of tea and drink.
7) A clove of garlic is highly suggested for high blood pressure. Chew one clove of garlic first thing every morning and wash it down with water. The garlic can also be thickly pound and swallowed with water. This remedy is considered as superior Home Remedy for High Blood Pressure.
8) Make a juice of 25-30 curry leaves with 1 cup of water. Strain and drink first thing in the morning. Limejuice can be added for better taste.
9) Grind 100 gm melon seeds and 100 gm poppy seeds (khus-khus). mix up and store in a clean container. Take 1 tsp with water in morning and evening. This is another good Home Remedy for High Blood Pressure.
10) Take natural apple cider vinegar or natural apple cider vinegar tablets on a daily basis.
11) Rice especially brown rice is the wonderful diet for hypertensive people with salt-restricted diets. The calcium in brown rice, reduce the high blood pressure.
12) For treating high blood pressure take an infusion of Lime Blossom. For this add one teaspoon full of dried leaves of lime blossom in one cup of boiling water. Leave this infusion for ten minutes; now strain it and its ready for drinking.
13 )Coriander Juice is another effective Home Remedy for High Blood Pressure - Drink coriander juice made from fresh coriander (dhania) thrice daily (1 full glass) for 1-2 months and then as the condition get better, you may lessen it to once daily in the morning.
