A prolonged administration of steroids to a person with certain affection may ease the initial symptomatology but lead to the appearance of further complications. Steroids produce atrophy of different tissues and leads to teleangiectasie and thickening of the facial skin. The last one gets a dark red color and becomes soon covered with papules, pustules, nodules and other dermal follicles caused by complications. The image of such a patient affected by steroids is shocking when the face becomes covered with a flaming red scale and many anesthetic papules. Once started, stopping the steroidal drugs administration will become a soliciting experience for both patient and physician. Cortisone compounds must be avoided from the beginning to prevent complications due to the damages produced to the skin.



A facial flushing assembling the one in sympathetic nervous system reaction is caused by an adrenaline rush triggered by stress. The organism reacts to threat by stress and stress hormones are released activating the nervous system. Sports and exercising can also be a cause of facial redness as a Rosacea symptom as the cardiovascular system causes dilatation while pumping blood harder and faster into the blood vessels. The cure for this may be exercising to reduce the blood flow released by the heart during physical exercise. Exercises must be done in cool areas with enough water supplies. The body must slowly adapt to effort in order to get used to an aerobic instead of an anaerobic breathing type. Oxygen is known to cause vasoconstriction.
