Host A Home Party

    View:
So you've decided to be a hostess of your own home party, but you're wondering what you need to do to make the party a success. Luckily, having a home product party is not that different from hostessing any other event. Create a simple party planner and follow a schedule for getting things done, such as house cleaning, shopping and decorating, to help things go much smoother before and during your party.

As soon as possible, go through your hostess kit, to see if there are things that your direct sales representative needs you to do, which will help you to have a more successful party.

Also, as soon as you've got time, go through the sales catalog, and decide which hostess gifts you want to earn, and see what the total party sales need to be in order for you to earn other free gifts or discounted merchandise. As soon as you have an idea of what you want and what your total party sales need to be, talk to your closest friends and family members about it. Tell them what you need, and ask for their help. (After all, the great hostess gifts and free or discounted merchandise are one of the main reasons people often host their first party.) Ask if they know of anyone else who should be invited to come. Find out if anyone who isn't coming is interested in purchasing anything out of the catalog. If you've got friends, family members or colleagues who have a different circle of friends, see if anyone is interested in passing around the catalogs for you, or taking orders. (Don't forget to ask if someone will also host their own party).

Planning a successful home party is not difficult if you follow these 7 tips:

1. Invite between two and three times as many guests as you think will show up. People get busy, and many times they have good intentions but something comes up at the last minute. And according to experienced direct sales representatives, about half of the people a hostess invites will not show up.

2. Give people enough time to plan on coming, but not so much time that they forget about your party. A good timeline is between two and three weeks. Any less than that and your guests may already have plans, and any longer and they're liable to forget about the party altogether.

3. Be excited and let people see and hear your enthusiasm. The more excited you are about the party, the more other people will be too. You can also create a specific party theme, and let people know that they'll have the chance to win prizes, shop and have a great time.

4. Call your guests twice ? the first time within 48 hours after they should have received their invitations, and the second time about 24 hours before the day of the party. Call the first time to make sure that everyone got their invitation, and to find out if they're coming. (Make sure that you let them know that you're really looking forward to them attending). And call the day before the party to remind them of the date and time. Let them know again how much you're looking forward to their coming and that you hope they win one of the fabulous prizes.

5. If you're providing refreshments, make them something that's simple for you to make, and whenever possible do as much of the preparation ahead of time, so that you get to enjoy your party and being with your guests. (Remember, most of the time people are coming so that they can look at the product line, do some visiting and some shopping. They're not coming for a four-star meal.)

6. Talk to your direct sales representative if you have any questions, concerns and to get any tips she's got from previous parties. She may have ideas that you haven't thought of, and will always be a font of knowledge for helping you to plan a successful home party.

7. Relax and have a good time! Don't forget that while part of the reason for you having a home party in the first place is to win some great hostess gifts and discounts on other items that you plan to buy, another reason for the party is so that you can spend a fun afternoon or evening with friends and family.

Host A Home Party
Blackjack is the most popular table game in American casinos. Blackjack is a fun and sophisticated game that can be easily played at home or set as a theme for a party or a social gathering. If you have never hosted a home blackjack game, here is a comprehensive guide to organizing a home blackjack game.

Before we continue, here is a basic introduction to blackjack rules. The object of the blackjack game is to beat the dealer having a hand value closest to 21 without going over it. The play begins with the dealer deals each player and himself one face up card, starting from the players on his immediate left and continuing clockwise.

Then, he deals each player a second face up card and face down card to himself. After the dealing is done, the game goes on with the first player to the dealers left who can either hit or stand. A player who chooses to hit, will be dealt an additional card while a player who chooses to stay gives up the option of drawing another card.

The round continues clockwise until it gets to the dealer himself. Then, the dealer shows his face down card. Whether the dealer hits or stands is predetermined by the house. In a traditional casino blackjack game, the dealer hits on 16. Today, casinos offer several variations. This is another decision you should take in consideration when you planning your home blackjack game.

If the value of the dealers hand goes over 21, he is busted and any remaining player, who has not busted, even if his hand value is less than 21, is paid 1:1. If a player hand goes over 21, the dealer collects his bets during the game. If the dealers hands value is more than 16 and less than 21, he compares his hand with each player separately.

  • If the value of the dealers hand is higher than the players hand, the dealer collects that players bet.

  • If the value of the dealers hand is lower than the players hand, the dealer pays the players 1:1

  • If the value of the dealer and the players hand is equal, then it is a push

Equipment

  • Table: in a casino, the blackjack table is about the size 36 x 72 x 30 inch, but a simple kitchen table can be an adequate alternative. You should organize the table so the dealer will sit on one half of the table and the players on the second half. In addition, allocate a special area in front of each of the players to place their bets.

  • Chips: about 100 standard poker chips

  • Cards: traditional blackjack is played with one 52 card deck. It is common to play multi deck blackjack with 6 or 8 decks

Variations

As the host of the game, you are entitled to decide on the blackjack rules. You should decide whether to host a multi deck or a single deck blackjack game and to determine in advance whether the dealer stands or hits on 16. You can also decide whether to play casino style blackjack and pay 3:2 on a blackjack hand and allow the player to keep his bets in a case of a push or to play charity style blackjack: pay 2:1 on a blackjack and collect the players bet in case of a push.
