It used to be that a lifestyle hotel was nonexistent; people went to places to stay when they were out of town or away from home. They checked in, they left for a bit, they came back to sleep, and they checked out in the morning. Eventually, and little by little, there evolved a new kind of lodging for those guests who longed for more personalized service and more intimate settings and amenities. These new lodgings were eventually dubbed boutique hotels. Now, they are commonly referred to as the lifestyle hotel. The key word with any one of these places to stay is accommodating.



In the last 15 years alone, the development of these kinds of places has significantly impacted the way that people think about travelling. When they book reservations for accommodations anywhere, they almost surely check to see what kind of amenities they will have access to during their stay. There are dozens of amenities and perks that guests can enjoy while they are away, like saunas and swimming pools, Jacuzzi rooms, five star restaurants, game rooms, spas and salons, workout rooms, and many others.

These kinds of places are also sometimes known as designer hotels. The boutique hotels generally are very small and operate under the premise of serving their own personal customers as opposed to others from the public. Usually these places have no more than 75 rooms, and they can also have as few as five. The Morgan Hotel in New York led the way for many of the lifestyle hotels to come into existence. In London, for example, it was difficult to find even one boutique hotel. Now, however, it seems that every street has one, and what is impressive about the entire thing is that larger hotels are downsizing to become more like the smaller, more intimate ones. The big boutique hotels gain popularity because rents are reportedly high and the small places are not always very workable. Some of the most famous lifestyle hotels in London now are Baglioni Hotel, the Soho Hotel, and Guest Houses in Notting Hill, to name a few.

In Paris the transformation to personal hotel service can also be found. There is a giant variety of lifestyle hotels in Paris to choose from, and each one has its own themed d'cor. One of the oldest kinds of these hotels is named Montalembert, and it is found on the left bank. There are also Hotel Sezz, right near the Eiffel Tower and the Hotel De Sers, which is located at Avenue Pierre in the beautiful city.

Just like most things (good or bad) in North America compared with Europe, the lifestyle hotels that are found in the country are larger than the ones all over the rest of the world, and most people agree that it is because of the high rental fees that are charged in the country. The boutique hotels are very popular in the United States as more people need all of the services and pampering they can get when they are away from home.

It is thought that the tourism industry will continue to grow, and the hotel industry will also have to grow with it all. It is suspected that the lifestyle hotels are not only becoming a more popular alternative to usual places to stay, but they will remain as such for decades to come. The busier people continue to get and the more intense their need for rest and relaxation grows, so too will the lifestyle hotels that we have come to love so much.
