Here are some things you can do to care for your eyes to help keep them looking young and healthy.
1.If you have red, watery eyes due to allergies, deal with them! There are plenty of medications available to eliminate allergy symptoms. Nothing will detract from your appearance faster than red eyes.
2.If you wear eyeglasses, make certain that they do not detract from your appearance. Eyeglasses should complement your eyes, not cover them. If your frames are unattractive, it means you had the wrong sales person. Try again.
3.If you can wear them, consider switching to contact lenses. Make sure you remember to remove them when swimming. You can easily lose them in the pool or worse, if you wear soft lenses you could contract a cornea infection that comes from a parasite found in water. The chlorine won't kill it and the result of this nasty little dude is not pleasant. You are inviting painful corneal infection that could cause partial or total blindness.
4.Try buying different colored lenses. You might discover a whole new you behind blue eyes!
5.Better yet, check out lasik. If you are a candidate it might give you a whole new lease on life. Of course, it's a treatment for nearsightedness only, but if that's your reason for wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses, you might want to look into it. Just remember, even though the procedure is done with a laser, it is still a surgical procedure. Take your time and investigate to make certain that you visit a skilled surgeon who has completed many lasik procedures.
6.Take vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene to improve your sight and overall health of your eyes.
7.Avoid caffeine. It negatively impacts the system that the eyes use for focusing. That includes coffee, tea, sodas and chocolate. Well, okay, if you can't quit, at least cut back!
8.Do not over use eye drops. You may just make your eyes redder. Artificial tears are okay, but you should limit or avoid using vasoconstrictors. They will shrink the blood vessels on the surface of your eye. Check with your doctor if you need further explanation on the differences.
Did you know . . . eye makeup worn by the ancient Egyptians served more than just a cosmetic purpose? It was worn by men and women alike. It was decorative for certain but they also wore it for medicinal purposes as well as magical reasons. The Egyptian word for eye-palette is a derivative from their word for "protect." An eye that wore no makeup was considered to be ?unprotected.? An unprotected eye was therefore at risk from the Evil Eye.
9.Replace eye makeup frequently. An enlightened woman of the 21st century would not be complete without her drawer full of makeup magic. Unfortunately, you are just as apt to have the same tube of mascara that you used the night of your high school prom! If this describes you, throw it away. Using the same mascara over and over again leaves you wide open for possible infection. Bacteria are alive and well and flourishing on your trusty little mascara wand. Pitch it out before it gives you trouble. Mascara should be replaced at least every 6 weeks.
10.Use special eye moisturizer to keep tissue around the eyes soft and pliable. The skin around the eyes is very thin and easily damaged.
How To Keep Looking Young
Whether people like to believe it or not, but there are many people who have never left their own territory. By this, I mean they have never taken a holiday abroad, nor have they experienced the joys of relaxation and learning about different cultures. Even something as simple as lying on sandy beach of Spain or Greece is an alien concept for some people. However, experts have revealed that people who do take regular breaks abroad are less likely to suffer from heart problems and reduce their stress levels dramatically.
People, who opt for activity holidays, are more likely to live longer and keep themselves fit and healthy. This is due to the amount of exercise they are involved with and the mental stimulation they gain from the experience. These types of holidays are more affordable than they were perhaps almost ten years ago, with more people in their forties joining in on the activities in comparison to younger groups of people.
Recently activity holidays have taken a step further, no longer being solely a holiday for sporting hobbies but also a holiday for people with varying hobbies such as art, antique hunting, horticultural, textile and theatre holidays. These have attracted those with specific hobbies, to enjoy what they do in a setting that offers creative stimulation and best of no distractions.
Art holidays can be experienced in places such as the Caribbean Islands, Japan or even Wales. These can offer tutoring, in cosy residential or attractive farmhouses. Antique hunting abroad is a not a new experience for those who are a fan of antiquities, however, France is amongst just one of the many places that offer fun antique hunting for all ages.
Horticultural holidays offer those with interests in nature an alternative to beach holidays. These are designed to be relaxing and tranquil with a view to experience the beauties of nature in places such as the Dutch Gardens, Australia or America. Textile and theatre holidays provide guests the opportunity to experience the arts in a different country, with an added bonus of taking course tailored for cultural experiences.
Other popular activity holidays include skiing holidays, mountain biking, kayaking, kite-surfing, windsailing, surfing, paragliding, mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking, tai chi, yoga, survival training and visiting large festivals and rock concerts. Amongst them, the most famous and popular of all holidays is skiing, which has been a favourite for many years to date. Young people in groups to small families enjoy the active break that offers luxury chalet accommodation, but also the experiences of staying active in an environment that teaches you new techniques.
Active holidays such as the ones above provide the guests the experience of keeping fit, whilst learning to relax and de-stress at the same time. Exercise is an important part of staying healthy and keeping your heart healthy. Many people however, underestimate the power of taking part in holidays such as these, possibly perceiving it as a daunting task.
These activities accommodate all people with varying abilities to take part, promoting awareness of your health and learning how to relax. This enables a strong foundation for people with little experience of travelling and enables you to learn a new skill. The more you learn to relax and keep your mind stimulated, the more you are likely to feel younger and lessen the aging process.
