Cold water creates thermogenesis (fat burning). I'm not going to bore you and say to drink 8 glasses of cold water (it does help), but instead I want you to use your shower... WITHOUT having to take a complete cold shower. I know taking a cold shower is out of the question for most people. I don't blame ya. I remember back to college when we had to suffer with cold showers in our dorms for a week. Brrr! Torture. So take your normal shower. But once you're done, this then use cold water. You only need to use it for 15 seconds. Yep... it is torture, but COME ON, it's only 15 seconds and it's going to help you lose stomach inches fast.
You probably never heard of that name before, but you're familiar with the exercise. It's merely sucking in your stomach and holding it. Just 1 thing... when doing this, suck in and hold your belly button... the lower belly. I'm sure you've sucked in your belly before, but you probably sucked in the upper part. Don't focus on that with this exercise. Anyway, you can suck in and hold your stomach for 15-30 seconds at a time, rest a few seconds, then repeat for 5 minutes. You can also spread it out during the day. I use tv commercials personally.
create a calorie deficit. This will force your body to go to its energy stores and to burn them. These include your fat cells. The first way to do this is to maintain a healthy diet: no more fast or fried food, avoid sugary beverages and candy. Stick to fruit and vegetables. Cut down on white carbs, cream, regular oil, and processed food. Eat more complex carbs, seeds, whole grain bread, olive oil, and nuts.
Once you get a little definition, do isometric abs squeezes. These are great for finishing off your waist to make it look as flat and lean as possible. What you do is tighten and squeeze your abs for 15 seconds on and off for a few minutes a day. That's it.
For a fast fat burning 10 minute workout, this is how you would set the treadmill: When you begin, start off with a speed of 3.0 and set the incline to 4.0. Then, after the first 3 minutes, increase the incline by 2 to 6.0, then once you've reached 6 minutes, increase the incline by 2 again to 8.0, and finally wait until you are at 9 minutes and then increase it to 12.0 for the final minute to reach 10 minutes. Trust me, you will be sweating....a lot!!
Change your lifestyle. Losing inches off your waist is not something that can be done in a few days. There are some diet plans that will tell you they can give you secrets to losing inches from your waist in five minutes, but the truth is, if you are serious about getting healthy, it will take time and effort and you will have to commit to eating better and exercising more. Both of these will help you see results.
How To Lose Inches Off Your Waist
But that is the most common question I get, not only from clients but from everyday people who have found out I'm a personal trainer.
"How do I get rid of this...quickly?" It's usually asked while grabbing a hold of a little goo sitting on the tummy.
The proper answer is that it takes exercise and better eating habits, but there is a quicker answer that may surprise you.
All you have to do is learn to control your abdominal, low back and butt muscles and you will instantly lose a couple inches off your stomach.
It's not really magic, it's just learning to use proper posture while sitting and standing.
Today's population has horrible posture. I see it everyday, not only in my training studio and massage clients, but just from "people watching".
Everybody is slouching with rounded shoulders, flat butts or they let their gut hang out which gives them a big curve in their lower back.
That's why I am constantly telling my training clients to keep their tummies tight while doing their workouts.
The ladies in my boot camps can attest to this. I'm constantly harping on them to keep their tummies tight.
I can tell when they are and when they aren't, because their stomachs will shrink by a couple inches when they keep their stomachs tight and controlled.
It's probably the easiest thing you can do, right now, to make your stomach shrink. Not only that, but your body will feel better.
When you have poor posture, or let your stomach muscles get too relaxed, your body has to work harder to keep you upright. That means you'll get tired easily.
Not only that, but you won't perform as well in your day-to-day tasks. All because of poor posture.
So here's what you can do right now, while reading this, to help remedy the situation.
Sit up straight, or stand up straight. Lift your chin up so you're looking straight ahead.
Pull your shoulders back by squeezing your shoulder blades together. Lift your chest up and relax your shoulders so you're not all hunched up.
Now contract your abs like someone is going to punch you in the gut. Not too hard, just enough that you know they're tight.
Now, if you're someone who lets their gut hang out, creating a nasty curve in your lower back, I want you to tighten your glutes (butt) and "tuck your tail under" so that your stomach comes back and that curve in your low back goes back to normal.
If you've done this right, you should look like a soldier standing at attention.
There's a reason soldiers look so fit and intimidating when they're standing at attention. They're using perfect posture (plus they're in damn good shape). They're standing upright without any hunches and are not letting their guts hang out.
Practice this routine multiple times per day until it becomes routine.
Not only that, but when you're exercising, concentrate on keeping your stomach tight. You will be amazed at the results you see in the mirror. Actually, that's another good tip. Practice this in front of a mirror.
You, and the people around you, will think that you have lost 10 pounds.
