The first thing to note is to stay away from any products that make claims about drying out your skin. This is not a good route to go down. The main reason for this is that the oil that you see is produced by glands under the skin and it is the brain that instructs these glands to produce oil. If you use something that removes all the oil and dries out your skin your brain will think there is something wrong. As a result your brain will instruct your glands to produce more oil and you will probably be in a worse situation than when you started.
The next thing to remember is to keep your skin as clean as possible and the best way to do this is to use a cleanser at least twice a day. It is best to use a light cleanser to avoid any striping down affect of the skin. It is a good idea to use a foaming cleanser or something you can wash off as this will help to keep your skin looking clean and fresh. Avoid the thick and heavy milky cleansers as these will not clean your skin in the way you need and will only help to bog down your skin.
After you cleanse it is a good idea to use a moisturiser but stay away from the thick heavy moisturisers. Use a very light one that will lift your skin and only give your skin a very thin colouring. If you cleanse your face more than once a day, try to us your moisturiser only once to reduce the build up on the skin.
If you are applying make up, stay away from any foundations or face make up that is oil based. This will only make your problem worse by adding more oil to your skin. To reduce the appearance of the oil you can use a loose translucent powder and apply it regularly throughout the day.
It is a good idea to regularly exfoliate your skin as this will help to clear out your pores, remove dead skin cells and add extra life to your skin. A product that contains salicylic acid can be great as it is oil soluble so will have a great affect on your skin.
We would also recommend using a clay face mask twice a week. These are deep cleaning masks that you usually have to leave on for at least 10 minutes. These are great for cleaning out your pores as well as getting rid of blackheads.
Finally we would like to say that you should not worry if you have oily skin. Firstly your skin tends to get dryer as you get older so your problem will reduce with age. Also it is dry skin that tends to suffer from wrinkles more. So if you have oily skin your chance of staying young looking is much greater than you friends you have dryer skin than you. Remember there is always a positive to everything and as long as you look after your skin properly there is nothing to worry about.
How To Oily Skin
If by chance you found your skin to be oily, the first notion you could think of is to go directly to the nearest pharmacy you can see and ask for skin care products that they think will answer to your skin needs. Well, here is the catch. Pharmacists do not really know the physiology of skin and what they recommend may not really be based on plain scientific knowledge but may just be either because of popularity of the product, what their company prefer or just based on their opinion. It is your sole discretion if you take their recommendation at face value.
However, more often than not, some of the popular and in demand skin care products offer more harm than benefits if any at all.
So let us see how to really take care of that oily skin of yours without resulting to desperate moves of buying chemicals which are not really suitable for your skin. Once you understand the physiology of your skin, you will begin to acknowledge that applying anything and everything at all to your skin will cause more damage. Your skin is a delicate part of your body. It is your primary defense against foreign objects from entering your body. To be able to do this, your skin produce certain chemicals to shoo away some bacteria and protective oil is part of that defense that your body is putting up.
Now that you know this, take a look at some products and how they could really harm your body instead of helping your dilemma. Some popular skin care products remove excess oil. But it is not only that. Along with the excess oil is the amount of oil claimed to be protective enough for your skin. If that protective oil is removed, your skin is now predisposed to all kinds of dirt AND bacteria.
The perfect thing to do is not to result into these harmful chemicals but instead rely on Mother Nature's fruits and products that are the source of these products from the beginning. A little homework can be done in order for you to know just exactly what kind of natural remedies you can muster to help your oily skin dilemma. I assure you there are a lot of natural remedies out there that you can see littering throughout the net. You just have to take your time and be patient. Besides, you do not want to waste your money on chemicals that produces undesirable results, do you?
For example, lemon juice can reduce the amount of oil present on your skin and not only that, the acid found in the juice can help heal superficial wounds and can also help with acne problems. I practically saw my sister use lemon for her acne problems and believe me, it really did help. You see, my sister has been trying many and I tell you again MANY skin care products for her acne and excess oil problem on her face but all in vain until she found natural remedies. You can too.
