How To Treat Yeast Infection

    View:
If you have ever had the unfortunate experience of contracting a yeast infection, you would know just how uncomfortable and inconvenient it is. Caused by the bacteria strain Candida, yeast infections are a somewhat simple occurrence of an imbalance of the bacteria. Since the yeast occurs naturally in our bodies, figuring out how to cure a yeast infection is simply a case of getting back the natural balance.

Yeast infection can target almost any part of the body.

1. Mouth - this is known as oral thrush

2. Genitalia - particularly the vagina and vulva in women, although men are also known to have yeast infections on their penises. In babies and newborns, it is referred to as diaper thrush.

3. Skin and nails

4. Breasts - especially on the area just under the breast

5. Lower abdomen

6. Anus

The ideal condition for the bacteria to grow is damp and dark surroundings. Therefore, any part of the body which supports these conditions is prone to yeast infection.

The question that arises is¦how to get rid of yeast infection? The answer is:

-Herbal or natural remedies

-Medication

A majority of the people prefer natural treatments to cure yeast infections. A major component of these cures are vinegar and yogurt. Yogurt is popularly opted as the cure as it contains good bacteria that replenish their decreasing number inside the vagina. You can rub it on the affected area as well as you can consume it directly. The former would allow the free mixing of bacteria directly on to the spot, while the latter is more of a long-term cure.

Vinegar used mildly in douches and washing solutions also helps. The solution acts as an effective natural cleaning disinfectant for the body. Just one spoonful in a bucket of water will be enough to keep the infection under control and reduce the itching immensely.

Spices are not only to spice up your food. Spices and herbs like basil, rosemary and thyme can be used to treat yeast infection. These can be mixed with something drinkable and consumed orally or you can apply the directly on to the infected part.

If these fail to help you, you have to go for yeast infection medication. These generally come in the form of creams that are applied on to the affected part. Or they can be suppositories that you can insert in some of the affected places. The main function of the yeast infection medication is to bring back the balance between the bacteria and yeast in the body. Excess of anything is bad. So is the case with these creams and suppositories. If you take extra doses of these creams and suppositories, the good bacteria can be destroyed along with the bad bacterias.

Who would like the yeast infection to return. Everyone would want a permanent cure. The best way out is to keep the areas that are prone to infection clean and dry. You would be surprised to know that, even after keeping the infection prone areas clean, people experienced yeast infection!

We believe in taking a shower daily to ensure personal hygiene. However, we tend to ignore the fact that we need to dry ourselves completely as well. This is quite important as this would determine if we are at a risk of yeast infection. The use of bathing foam or soap with hypoallergenic features and no unwanted chemicals, dyes and scents would add to the hygiene.

Do yourself a favor and stop wearing clothes or undergarments that are too tight. Panties that are ill-fitting (read: too small) are a conducive catalyst for encouraging candida to produce overtime and tight jeans or pants for long periods of time do nothing but provide warm, damp homes for the bacteria. Opt instead for looser clothes that allow parts of your body to dry and ventilate.

While the yeast infection is still haunting you, or even after that, go for organic products as well as those which contains hypoallergenic elements. These are gentle for the skin and being natural cause no irritation.
