It is reported that 75% of women will suffer from yeast infections at some point in their lives. Although this is a common infection many women still find it difficult to discuss the problem with their doctors. There are plenty of medications available that will treat this problem, but a lot women are now looking for more natural ways to deal with the condition.
Yeast infections will often be referred to as Candida by medical specialists and are caused by microscopic groups of yeast and fungi attacking a person's body. Today there are currently twenty different types of yeast infection that not just women but men can suffer from, the most common of these being Candida Albicans.
What is important to remember is that no one is actually immune from this particular type of infection and it can cause irritation both in young and old alike. However the most common types that you will often hear about are vaginal yeast infection, along with diaper/nappy rash, thrush and the forms of yeast infection that affect a person's skin or nails.
The most likely places a person will often find that they suffer from a yeast infection is an area of the body which is damp and warm, say the underarms for example. However in most cases our skin is able to prevent this particular organism from obtaining access to these areas and this will in turn prevent it from growing. If however a person has some damage to the skin then this provides the yeast a chance to penetrate through to the area in question and so allow it to start growing.
Where children are concerned when it comes to yeast infections the most likely places that they are to become infected are around the mouth and in the diaper area. But adults as well are prone to suffering from this infection to the mouth it is more commonly in the elderly or in those people who wear dentures. However most of the infections that are caused by the growth of yeast can often be treated very easily and quickly through the use of topical creams and medications.
But there are a few cases of yeast infection, although these are very rare and which given the chance can affect the whole body. In such cases as these the mortality rate is very high. Often only 1 in 4 people who suffer from such an infection are likely to be treated and cured. So even if you suffer from an infection to the mouth or genital area if left untreated can be come extremely complicated and dangerous and normal medications will not be able to treat it.
The biggest problem we face when it comes to yeast infections is that often there is no apparent reason as to why the infection has occurred in the first place. Sometimes a person may suffer from this particular infection because they are taking some kind of antibiotic and this has lead to their immune system being compromised, which has provided the yeast fungi a chance to multiply.
Over recent years there have been developments in the natural and holistic cures for yest infections and which are now readily available. But the great thing about these types of cures is that they work on treating the root cause of the infection and so help to prevent the yeast infection from occurring initially. One such product "Yeast Infection Away" is claiming that it can cure any kind of yeast infection in just twelve hours. Whilst there is another known as "Yeast Infection No More" that offers an holistic approach to being able to remove the threat of Candida (yeast infections) permanently. It might also be reassuring to know that I do have some have experience in the matter of yeast infections. The utter lack of proper information on this subject is what drove me to even consider writing this article. I've tried my best not to offend any sensibilities but sometimes, and when dealing with yeast infections especially, it's a little difficult to ignore the obvious. And if, to spare any blushes, I was to include only half of the information necessary, then I wouldn't be doing a very good job of bringing you the proper information.
