Smoking is that addiction that doesn't spare even a single organ of the smoker. He is troubled with problems relating to all the organs including the major ones. There is a tendency among the people to give up smoking only when their life is threatened by a serious illness. Most of the IPF affected people were heavy smokers at some points of their lives. But after the diagnosis of the disease they gave up smoking thus rendering them as non smokers. But the people who are yet to get the disease continue to smoke and hence the percentage of IPF is seen to be less amongst them. However, in the latter group there are people who smoke even after being affected by IPF or for that matter any life threatening disease. Though there have been no count regarding the number of efforts that have been made in order to quit smoking, the results have not been that encouraging.
