Many parents do not realize the main goal in parenting. It is our responsibility to grow a small infant into a responsible adult. We are to keep the child healthy, safe and to help them grow into their own person. Some parents have a different take on what parenting is.



Every parent knows the feelings of wanting to keep their child locked away from the bad things in our world. But this in not reality. Keeping your child from experiencing the world will make it harder for them when they do.

In order for a child to turn into an adult, they must be gradually given more space and more independence to grow and make their own choices, yes for good and for bad. Allowing your child to go through this process, may perhaps be one of the most difficult jobs of parenting.

Each child is different, so there is not set way to do this. Expect mistakes, and just love them through them. It is best to come to terms with them becoming adults as soon as you can. Do not let them do what they want, but do allow times for them to make decisions about themselves. This will be the true test as to what you have taught them.

You both might just be surprised to see how often your child was listening, and watching, you. Hopefully they will put to use the tools you have given them.
