Allah gave knowledge, understanding and wisdom through prophet hood and decisive judgment between people unto King David and King Solomon, and both of them said: Praise be to Allah; thanks and gratitude to Allah, Who has above many of His believing servants!



Indeed, Allah has favored King Solomon with prophet hood and the disposal of jinn, humans and devils to his service, over many of His believing servants'.

Moreover, Allah gave King Solomon the knowledge of the speech of birds and of other creatures like the Jinn and the Ants!

In other words, King Solomon was able to understand the languages of the birds and of some other creatures. In addition, King Solomon was able also to communicate with the birds like the Hoopoe.

And Solomon was David's heir as king instead of all the other sons of David who were many.

King Solomon did not deny all of Allah's gifts to him.

He said: Lo! Allah has taught me, has given me the understanding of the languages of birds, has been given me abundance of all things and has given me the knowledge of everything in my kingdom. This surely is great evident favor and this is indeed a great blessing from Allah.

It follows that King Solomon is the first man on the earth who was able to understand the Languages of the Birds.

Chapter 27:15-16

15] QARIB: we gave knowledge to David and Solomon. They said: 'praise be to Allah who has preferred us above many of his believing worshipers. '

SHAKIR: and certainly we gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and they both said: praise be to Allah, who has made us to excel many of his believing servants

PICKTHAL: and we verily gave knowledge unto David and Solomon, and they said: praise be to Allah, who hath preferred us above many of his believing slaves!

YUSUFALI: we gave knowledge to David and Solomon: and they both said: "praise be to Allah, who has favored us above many of his servants who believe!"

16] QARIB: Solomon inherited David. He said: 'know, my people, we have been taught the speech of birds and given everything. Surely, this is a clear bounty. '

SHAKIR: and Solomon was David's heir and he said: o men! we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given all things; most surely this is manifest grace

PICKTHAL: and Solomon was David's heir. And he said: o mankind! lo! We have been taught the language of birds, and have been given (abundance) of all things. This surely is evident favor.

YUSUFALI: and Solomon was David's heir. He said: "o ye people! We have been taught the speech of birds and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed grace manifest (from Allah.)"

It is amazing that the Quran declares this peculiar fact about King Solomon while it is not mentioned in the Bible. Meanwhile, the Bible in 1 Kings 11:1-10 says that King Solomon loved many foreign women; He had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines! His women (1000) led him astray! They turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord and he did not keep the Lord's command!
