Make Yourself Look Old

    View:
It may sound like a strange question, but do your eyebrows make you look old? Not many women take the time to look at the current state of their eyebrows and the effect which they have on the face. Youthful faces rarely have eyebrows ravaged by over plucking or wildly unkempt eyebrows. While some women spend years of their life over plucking, others simply do nothing with their brows, allowing them to basically just do what nature intended them to do.

Whether you over plucked or ignored your eyebrows over the years, by taking just a little more care with your eyebrows, you could potentially make yourself look years younger by framing the face and opening up the eyes while creating a polished look.

How Your Eyebrows Affect Your Face

The eyebrows are often overlooked when it comes to our make-up routine. If you have not forgotten about them completely, they tend to be abused in some way. It could be that you have over-plucked them over the years and have permanently damaged them. Perhaps you just let them grow and you do not worry about what they are doing or how they are looking. However you treat your eyebrows, it is clear that most women have no idea about the potential that the eyebrows actually have to transform your face completely.

The eyebrows frame the face and they draw attention to the eye area and to your overall facial bone structure. Your eyes are said to be the windows into your soul, but if your eyebrows are taking center stage then that may not necessarily be the case! If you have over plucked your eyebrows the lack of a proper frame for your eyes can make you look older than you are and make your eyes look smaller. If you leave your eyebrow growth to Mother Nature your look can be immediately improved with some quick grooming tips which will at once make you look more pulled together and open up your eyes by evenly framing your face. There are a number of eyebrow shapes which can really alter the way you look. It is important to find a shape which suits your face; otherwise you could end up looking a little unbalanced.

Finding the Right Eyebrow Shape for Your Face

In order to find the perfect eyebrow shape for your face, you need to first find out what shape face you actually have. The shape of your face will really affect the shape in which you should style your eyebrows and so decide whether you have a round, heart, square or oval shaped face before choosing your brow shape.

Eyebrow stencils are the ideal tool to create the best and most balanced eyebrow shape for your face. Stencils work with both over plucked and ignored eyebrows by creating the right shape for you to start with. The eyebrow stencil gives you the shape to either fill in with a compatible brow powder color and/or pluck around to create that perfect shape. If you are trying to create a shape out of unruly eyebrows, stencils will help you do just that. Use a matte eyebrow/eye shadow color that matches or is slightly lighter than the color of your eyebrows. Fill in the stenciled area or define your brows using an angled brush with the powder. The powder and angled brush will create a much more natural look than the sharp, generally unnatural look of a brow pencil

Remember that when plucking your eyebrows you should not over-pluck them. Only pluck away stray hairs below the brow line, never above the brow. Never shave your eyebrows either. If you are in extreme doubt about the shape of your eyebrows, have them first styled by a professional. Once you have the basic shape you can maintain the style with periodic grooming. Also, you need to ensure that you have the right tools too so choose a professional set of tweezers to help you.

If you decide to shape and style your eyebrows yourself, here are some general rules to follow.

For the abused eyebrow:

If you have abused your eyebrows with over plucking and uneven grooming, look into an eyebrow stencil kit.

1. Choose an eyebrow stencil with a shape that best fits your face and personality.

2. Follow the directions in the kit and fill in the area where your brows should be with the kit's eyebrow power.

3. Stop plucking inside the stencil areas and give your brows a rest!

You will notice that the kit will help you to create a well proportioned, beautiful brow and will wean you off over-plucking for good!

For the ignored eyebrow:

1. Prepare to create the perfect eyebrow shape by starting with the right tools which include a good pair of tweezers (ideally with a textured, slanted edge) and an eyebrow kit with stencils. Often the stencil kits will include detailed instructions. Read the instructions before you start to use the kit.

2. The best time to pluck your eyebrows is after a hot shower when your skin is clean and soft. If you are extremely sensitive you can also numb the area with a little ice or an oral pain-relieving gel like Anbesol which is used to numb canker sores.

3. Make sure that you have enough light and a good mirror to see what you are doing.

4. Use your stencil kit to outline the shape of the brow you are going to create. The stencil will help you create two evenly balanced eye brows and prevent you from over plucking.

5. Pluck out the hairs outside the outline you have created with the stencil. Pluck one at a time in the direction that the hair is growing

6. Fill in the eyebrow area with the eyebrow powder filler using an angled brush.

Overall the eyebrows can open up the face, create a youthful appearance and they can help people to focus more on your eyes. Without proper care they can make the face look unbalanced and they can also add years to your face too.
Make Yourself Look Old
If you have a dry skin problem and not too keen on having it look like a withered apple, then your only way out is to jump headlong into a dry skin care regimen. The dry skin is basically a dehydrated skin, very sensitive to the weather elements. So the dry skin care regimen is all about nourishing the skin and keeping it protected from external ravages.

Dry skin care involves getting to the roots of the problem. Apart from the intrinsically dry skin type, dryness can also be the result of taking drugs like diuretics, antispasmodics, and antihistamines. Dry skin can also result from medical conditions like hypothyroidism, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, seborrhea and diabetes. Excessive exposure to harsh weather elements like snow, sun and winds and the use of chemicals on the skin, Vitamin A and B deficiencies can lead to dryness too.

The essentially dry skin has a dull look about it especially around the mouth and the eyes and it feels taut and uncomfortable right after washing. Chapping and cracking are its most severe symptoms.

Dry skin care primarily involves nourishing it with baby oil, gentle moisturizing creams and preferably, a non-detergent based, neutral-pH product to clean it. Dry skin needs an out-and-out cleaning but not with a commercial soap. After washing, always use a moisturizer to keep the skin looking and feeling soft and supple. It's good if you apply the moisturizer over a damp skin.(never over apply the moisturizer.)

You can also use oil for hydrating your dry skin, however while massaging, take care not to stretch your skin; pat dry. Apply oil profusely around the eyes, because this is the area most prone to wrinkles and crows feet.

Dry skin care demands the application of only very gentle and preferably natural beauty care products. Therefore, tire for the night, massage yourself with a homemade nourishing cream. Or you can use a natural beauty mask consisting egg, honey, olive oil and rose water to provide your skin with all the nourishments.

A warm milk bath with a few drops of almond oil added to it will soften and hydrate your skin like nothing else. Dry, cracked lips respond well to a little milk cream mixed with rose water and lime juice, while style divas swear by the raw-beetroot-application-before-the-lipstick routine. Just a dab of Vaseline afterwards ensures that your lips remain pink and pretty.

Dry skin care also involves knowing what to stay away from. Overheated rooms, beauty care treatments that use steam and sudden changes of temperatures wreck havoc on a dry skin problem. While stepping out in the cold, liberally douse yourself with some kind of moisturizer, and pile on the sunscreen when you go out in the sun.

Your diet too plays an important role in containing the reverses of a dry skin. While smoking and fatty, oily foods are a definite no-no, fresh fruits and vegetables, along with copious quantities of water daily, improve the quality of your skin and they have also been proven to contain anti-ageing minerals. Thus with such foods in your diet, you not only remain healthy, but look also good.

There are many herbs that can be directly applied to the skin or directly consumed to help your condition of dryness. Thus chamomile, lavender, calendula, comfrey, tea tree oil, aloe vera and peppermint used in herbal facials are good for dry skin and borage, fennel, coltsfoot or calendula tea can be had daily for a youthful looking skin.

Dry skin care actually means pampering your skin, so you have to always keep in mind that you are dealing with something very fragile.
