Canopy beds have always been my favorite kind of bed. I sometimes think about the fabulous wrought iron bed that parents had when I was just a little kid. It wasn't a canopy bed frame originally, but it had enough height for a canopy to hang properly from it. When mom and dad went out, we liked to make a secret hideaway using sheets and blankets flung over the top of the bed. And I have loved canopy bed frames ever since. The great thing about wooden frames is that you can't hurt yourself on them as easily, they weigh less than other materials, and they are gentler on your floors. If you run into the bed a lot getting in or out, know that a wooden bed frame will probably leave less bruises and be a gentler choice.

The height of the canopy is an important factor to consider in your selection of canopy bed frames. Whether you want a canopy that is closer to the mattress or higher up, your final decision will depend on personal preference and the height of the ceilings in your bedroom. When it comes to a canopy, some people prefer it to be at its maximum height. Others enjoy sleeping in canopy beds sporting lower canopies, because it provides a greater degree of intimacy. Really low canopy beds just don't work for me. One may experience discomfort when a lack of air reaches the inside of the bed. Some people actually like this though. If you want to find out if you like a tall or low canopy, then you should try several.

Nothing say romance like antique canopy bed frames, and with so many styles available, you are sure to find one you will cherish forever. Antique beds add unique appeal to any room. I have seen antique bedframes that have been in a family for many generations, the oldest of which are wrought iron frames, but wooden frames can last almost as long. Antique lovers should check your favorite shops for one of these charming beds.
