First you must decide whether or not to hire a removal company. If you have the budget, it's always easier to hire to at least do the removals for you. The more services you relieve yourself of the less stress you will feel. But then if you have limited budget high bills would be very stressful anyway.



Pack up your things from room to room. Then color code the boxes so you will know where each box should go to. Make an inventory of each box too you will know where to find certain things should you need them right away when you arrive your place. It would also help you make sure that there is nothing missing from each box.

Make sure that you are using the right packing materials. It is also important that you pack each item properly. More delicate items need more cushion so they won't break during the transport. You would want a zero incidence of damage if possible. If you feel you are not adept for this part of the moving, perhaps it is better that you let the removal company handle it. Since they are professionals, they will know how each item should be packed. They would also have access to the right packing materials since they use them everyday. Even if you decide to hire the removal company to do the packing, an inventory of each box is still required. Each box should still be labeled as to where it should go.

If you are very busy hiring a removal company for the packing is really advisable. This will free you from the packing so you can take care of the other details of the move. You will also have a chance to perhaps finish some work before you move.

When moving houses you don't necessarily let the removal company carry everything. You should bring the essential things with you in your travel. For instance, you might want to leave some glasses or cups so you can serve tea or juice during the move. You should also have some food with you so that you will have something to eat before you leave and when you arrive your new place.

A change of clothes and towels are essential to keep yourself fresh and clean. You might need a pen and paper while in travel so you could have them in your hand carried bag as well.

Since you will be traveling, you might also need a set of tools just in case your car breaks down. Other types of tools may be needed to assemble furniture though. It is also advisable to have your first aid kit ready always.

To make unpacking easier as well, you can put some signs to indicate that a particular box or boxes belong to the said room. Then you can start unpacking room by room until everything is place.
