There are thousands of people being caught up in all the hype surrounding the network marketing industry with promises of financial freedom without little effort or cost.
Several months later however, and most people have given up disillusioned and often several thousand dollars/pounds worse off. This is a real shame as with the assistance of an experienced mentor and the application of the correct marketing methods and strategies, network marketing is the single best way for ordinary people to make extraordinary incomes.
So why is it so many people fail? Surely 97% of people attempting to make a success in this industry are not all incompetent and lazy.
Well, the answer is "Of course not!"
The primary problem is probably a symptom of the internet's success. Because it is so easy for people now to get internet access, there are so many people with so little idea about sales and marketing trying to "teach" other people who are equally clueless about sales and marketing. It is a real case of "the blind leading the blind".
This massive influx of so-called "marketing experts" has inevitably lead to a lot of unhappy customers, tarnishing the reputation of the network marketing industry.
Network marketers are seen by a lot of people in the same light as scammers, con-artists and second-hand car salesmen. One of the big mistakes that a lot of these network marketers make is to utilise the same old marketing principles that pre-existed the internet.
A lot of the methods and mindsets employed by these marketers were developed and matured in a world where to get a sale, you had to almost convert or even brainwash your prospect into believing that they had to buy your product or services. However, the arrival of the internet has changed forever the old established ways of doing business and that includes sales and marketing.
People nowadays can simply use Google to find what they want, at a price they want, whenever they want, 24/7. Gone are the days when you could convert or pressure a prospective customer into buying your product. Annoy someone with those sort of pressure tactics and with one click of the mouse button they are off looking at someone else's product.
People are a lot more cogniscent of what's going on in this Information Age. New tactics and methods of doing business are absolutely vital if you want to succeed.
So what do you need to do to be successful on the internet?
Simple. Forget the hard sell tactics of a door-to-door salesman. Think more like a real bricks-and-morter business. Get the customer to come to you first by using an effective system of lead generation and marketing.
Use this system to get customers who are actively seeking what you have to offer as these are the only customers you really want. Why spend your time and money trying to convince someone that what you have is worth buying?
If you market yourself correctly, you will find customers that are attracted to you and will purchase products from you time and time again. Focus on what makes you special and unique, develop yourself and your presence online and you will see the results of your efforts.
Everyone in the world, whether you believe it or not, is a unique individual, each with their own Unique Selling Proposition or USP.
Bring out that individuality with whatever you do online and you will connect with people who relate to you in some way and will come back to you and your products.
You WILL make a success of this if you just keep on going. The majority of failures occur simply because people give up. In a lot of cases, there was absolutely nothing wrong with what they were doing, but they didn't perservere that little bit longer.
Internet search engines prefer information that is added on a gradual, natural basis, so use this to your advantage.
All you need to do is put a bit of effort in on a daily basis and you will see results.
The most important thing to remember is that this is meant to be fun, so enjoy yourself.

Working from home is a dream come true for many entrepreneurs. It permits you to sell products or services you truly believe in, set your own hours, work by your own rules, and it may even allow you to spend more time with family and friends. But there are also many challenges involved in operating a business out of your home. Among these challenges are a multitude of distractions to contend with, and the difficulty of growing your business while maintaining its home-based status. The following are solutions that serve to help home-based entrepreneurs with some common challenges that they are likely to face:
1) Dealing with constant interruptions. Having more time for your family and friends may have been one of your primary goals in working from your home, but unless you set some boundaries, the distractions that they can cause will disrupt your workflow and may significantly decrease your productivity. Inform your friends and family about your work schedule and insist that they abide by it. Work from a quiet place in your home, ideally your office if you have one, but if not, find a peaceful place such as your bedroom in which to set-up a makeshift office and, if possible, keep the door closed. During work hours, do not answer personal calls and advise your family not to disturb you.
2) Managing and entertaining young children. If you have young children at home, working with them around can be an extraordinary challenge. Interruptions from very young children may be unavoidable if you don't have someone there to care for them while you work. Weigh the cost of hiring a babysitter at least part-time versus the profits that can be obtained in the free time gained. If a sitter is not an option for you, and you have a baby, set-up a playpen with toys next to your work area. For pre-school children, puzzles, building blocks, play-dough and coloring books are great ways to keep them occupied. Be sure to change the activities or toys every time you work, and take play breaks or your children will quickly become bored.
3) The business is becoming too large for your home. If you are becoming too busy to handle all the work yourself, but you still want to maintain your business' home-based status, you may want to consider hiring virtual contractors. By outsourcing some of your duties virtually, you get the help you need, while avoiding moving your business out of your home in order to hire employees. Today, you can outsource just about any task virtually. Some examples of this are:
- Bookkeepers and Accountants for financial matters
- Virtual Assistants for administrative functions
- Marketing Specialists for search engine optimization and general marketing
- Web Designers for website design or maintenance
Outsource the tasks you enjoy least, and this will give you the bonus of enjoying your work more in addition to saving you time.
4) How to handle necessary absences. Taking a sick day or 2 may not be too detrimental to your business' health, but what if you need more time to recover from illness, or just plain need a vacation? If it's possible in your industry, consider automating your business. Autoresponders can handle most email inquiries and you may be able to set up an automated ordering system. If automation is not an option for your company, you might consider outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant. Most VAs are business owners themselves and consequently know the ins-and-outs of running a business. A Virtual Assistant will be able to check and respond to emails, handle customer inquiries, process orders and more.
These are just a few solutions to some of the more prevalent difficulties that a home-based business owner might face. A little advanced planning for the management of distractions and other problems in your business will help you overcome even the greatest of challenges.
