Natural Cures For Panic

    View:
What is snoring? Snoring is caused by the vibration of the respiratory structures, including the uvula and soft palate. The vibration during sleeping is produced from obstruction during breathing. This blockage is caused by irregular airflow. Snoring is unpleasant, and can either be mild or severe. Following are the causes: *The throat closes While sleeping due to weakness. *A misalignment in the jaw is caused due to tension in muscles. *Extra fat gathers around the neck. *Obstruction in the nasal passageway.

Cures and treatments for snoring: If you fail to cure your snoring problem on your own, you may need to see a doctor such as a otolaryngologist or an ear, nose and throat specialist. A dentist specializing in snoring problems may be able to try a dental application to stop your snoring.

Surgery

Depending on what your problem is, you may be able to get surgery to help cure your snoring problem. Surgeries include Adenoidectomy, Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) and Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP), that surgically increase your airway by removing tissues or correcting abnormalities surgically. A surgeon will remove adenoids, tonsils or the excess tissue at the back of the throat or inside the nose. A surgeon may also reconstruct the jaw if that is the problem. These procedures are either performed by using laser, a scalpel or micro waving probe.

A new surgery known as the Pillar procedure or Palatal implantation has shown promise in helping to cure snoring. This surgery places small plastic implants, less than an inch long, with a syringe-like instrument into the soft palate. Scar tissue builds up around the plastic implants. This causes tissues of the soft palate to stiffen, helping to stop vibrations that cause snoring.

This operation can be performed under local anesthesia in doctor's office. There is little pain involved and only mild side effects. The downside of this surgery is the expense. Most insurance companies consider surgery to cure snoring optional.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) A CPA is a machine that you place by your bed that blows pressurized air into a mask which is worn over your face or nose. This helps to keep your airway open during sleep.

Lower jaw positioners are dental appliances that can help. There are also oral devices similar to those used as mouth guards worn by athletes. These are dental devices that can help you open your airway. They help you cure your snoring by bringing the tongue or lower jaw forward while you are sleeping and opening the airway.

These dental devices, most of which are flexible, can be fitted around your head and chin to adjust your position of lower jaw. Some others fit inside the mouth and are acrylic. A dentist specializing in sleeping disorders can examine and fit you for any one of these devices.

You can ask your doctor or dentist about these medical treatments, which will help you to evaluate which option will be best for your snoring problems.

Snoring is the unpleasant sound caused by the vibration of the parts of the nose, mouth or throat structures that obstruct breathing during sleep. The sound is the obstruction during breathing while sleeping. This sound may be soft or loud, and the blockage may be slight or severe. Among the other factors are while sleeping the throat closes due to weakness, nasal passageways are obstructed, fat gathering around the throat.

A new surgery, the Pillar procedure or Palatal implantation, is showing results for chronic snoring sufferers. It involves small plastic implants, which are less than an inch long in size, that are inserted using a syringe like instrument into the soft palate. It can be performed in a doctor's office under local anesthesia.

It causes stiffening of the tissue of the soft palate, helping to stop vibrations that cause snoring. The procedure results in little pain and very mild side effects. The major downside of the surgery is that it is expensive - insurance usually does not cover surgery for snoring. So if you have had a snoring problem that has resisted less invasive interventions ask your physician or a otolaryngologist or Ear Nose Throat surgeon whether it is right for you.

Other surgeries can help cure snoring problems. An adenoidectomy, Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) and Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP), are available to remove tissues or corrects abnormalities that will result in an increase of the size of the airway. These various tissues which when removed at the back of the throat with a laser scalpel or probe, potentially with reconstruction of the jaw.

There are other devices and procedures on the market that may be able to help snorers without surgery. A Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine (CPAP) is placed by your bed to administer air blown into a mask which the snorer wears over the face or nose. This machine helps to keep breathing airways open while sleeping.

Lower jaw positioners, oral devices and dental appliances can also help to treat snoring depending upon the individual difficulty. Dental devices help sleepers open the airway. They are similar to those used as mouth guards worn by athletes and they reposition the tongue and jaw. These dental devices are mostly flexible and can adjust to the position of the jaw. Others can fit inside the mouth and are acrylic. Your dentist can talk to you about these options and refer you to the proper specialist.
