Golden Retrievers are always ready to be involved in any activity that you or you family are participating in and need to be part of the family surroundings. It is rare for them to bark, but if they do it may be because they are bored.

A golden Retriever needs regular excercise and will involve himself in any activity that you are embroiled in such as hunting, hiking and ball games. If you start your Golden Retriever puppy out early with exposure to children, he will grow to become better than ever with them. Irrespective of how friendly they are Golden Retrievers can be unintentionally rough when playing so should always be supervised when with young children. Pulling his tail or poking him, even unintentionally, may cause him to retaliate through his natural instinct, despite his great disposition.

As they love the water Golden Retrievers wil take every oppotunity to get wet, so be mindful of any body of any water nearby when excercising your dog. Besides water they are also drawn to mud, getting themselves dirty on a frequent basis and once your Golden is full grown, you can count on bathing him every couple of days. Your Golden Retriever will need well ventilated conditions, shade and plenty of water during the summer months because, although they are not too concerned with the heat it is not usually beneficial for them. Taking care of you Golden Retriever during the hot summer months is paramount and he should be fine even on the hottest days.
