When trying to make money online, many people jump right in before they are properly prepared. You know that to be a lawyer, a doctor, a construction worker, an office worker, or a truck driver there are prerequisites. There are skills you must learn before you can be successful. Internet marketing is no different. Here's the biggest prerequisite:



Although there are plenty of unsavory people out there who'd have you believe internet marketing is just a "Walk in the Park", like any other skill or trade there are things you need to know.

And I must admit, it actually is a walk in the park compared to what you have to put up with in the “regular” working world of 9-5's and being a subordinate to someone who doesn't have your best interest in mind. Of course there are still basic rules that you have to follow and various pitfalls to avoid in order to actually make Internet marketing work for your self.

Most people will not make a dime online when they try while there are others who will make more in a month than most people make in a whole year. So why is that?

One thing I know for sure is that in order to make money online you need to first have passion for what you are promoting. Everyone has a passion, hobby, something they enjoy reading about or studying…or at least talking about. The key is to harness it.

Passion in this context simply means that you have spent the proper amount of energy to research the company and products or services that you want to promote. You can then translate that like (or passion) into the education, excitement and work that leads to making money online. And the natural result is that you have fun and make money in the process.

I will have to say that many marketers online are so good at what they do that they ignore their passion because they can sell anything. And that's fine because to a degree, because “selling anything” IS their passion. But what I'm concerned about are those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online. If you're starting out and you're not very passionate about what you're doing, then chances are you are going to fail.

Now, I'm not saying that passion is the only thing necessary to make it. There are many things required to be a success online like a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising, company support, effective keywords, and so on. Those things can usually be learned from the company or website you join, but if you skip passion you automatically reduce your chances for success.

Therefore, logic says that if you have no passion for the company and the products you're promoting, you won't attempt to do the work you are being taught.

Internet marketing work is usually not difficult. It can be time consuming if you are determined. What it does take is motivation derived from passion to get up and running with a sustained effort so that you don't quit.

And always remember: You have a wonderful resource with all of the Internet search engines to search about Internet Marketing for business opportunities and programs, so utilize them!

Your research should first be geared towards uncovering a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, reputable and founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products or services. The products or service must be sell-able and something for which you can have passion for.

Being undecided and having thoughts like: “Well, this one looks pretty good and the compensation plan is excellent…so I guess I'll just start that business.” -are not based on passion at all. And remember that if you hear that some Internet "guru" does that, don't be tempted to follow, because if you remember- they are experienced and can sell just about anything online without being passionate about the particular product or service. Your drive to always push forward is the most important attribute.

Note: Keep in mind that it's a good goal to get to the point where you can sell just about anything online. It takes a lot of work, but the end skill is indeed a goal that is worthy of pursuing.Just know that there are other steps to take and a lot of progress to make before reaching that goal.

Internet marketing requires you to first find the right company and products or services to be passionate about. All of the other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you the great success you desire.

Sidestepping being passionate about a company with products or services that have market proof that they sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid. You simply must make the effort to spend the time to research what you want to promote. This will allow you to naturally enjoy it and want to progress forward at a good pace. Forward movement and staying motivated are the keys to internet success.
