Preventing Diabetes Type 2

    View:
No one can give you the guarantee that you will not suffer from the disease. Same goes for diabetes. There are number of medicines available in market and thousands of housewives tales regarding the prevention of this particular disease however, no matter to what extent you go when you have to get the disease you have to get it.

There are number of school of thoughts regarding the reason behind this disease. However, all of them agree on one point that there are number of things that can cause this disease. One of the leading reason behind this is that you have inherited it from your parents, family or any other blood related person since it is a hereditary disease as well. In such case, no prevention is possible since it is not in your hand and there are high chances that you will get the disease. In other case here is some of the possible prevention from the two types of diabetes:

Type 1:

This type of diabetes is also called Juvenile Diabetes. This is usually seem happening in children or young adults. This type of diabetes causes a disorder in the immune system. the insulin producing cells are destroyed and thus the cells responsible for reducing blood sugar becomes absent and you are unable to prevent diabetes.

Type 2:

This is much more common form of diabetes. For the previous few years it has been constantly rising. Although, the insulin is still being produced by the cells but for some reason the insulin does not work as it should and thus the body suffers from a rise in blood sugar level.

Two of the main common methods of prevention of diabetes are:

&bullDieting: one of the major causes of the Type 2 diabetes is overweight. The theory has been put forwarded that too much weight causes the insulin to work at the slower rate. This causes the insulin to become ineffective. From this theory it is deducted that if you manage to keep your weight at a normal level you will successfully prevent diabetes from happening. Therefore you must take special care when it comes to deciding what to eat and what to avoid.

&bullExercise: The next thing that you can do to prevent is exercising. This works on the same principle as dieting. The main purpose here as well is to control the weight. If in case you gain weight for some reason it is recommended that you start exercising immediately. Initially, the insulin in your body will work as it should but if you keep gaining weight the insulin in your body will stop working as it should and thus result in diabetes.

Prevention of Type 1 diabetes is not in your hand since it is hereditary but preventing the Type 2 diabetes is within your reach. All it take is a little dedication to the cause.

Preventing Diabetes Type 2
During the study, researchers found that 80 percent of the time type 1 diabetes entered into remission among test mice and "worked permanently in 80 percent of those that go into remission," according to news reports on the study. Additionally, researchers found that by administering the two cancer treatments "before the onset of autoimmune diabetes, prevented development" of the condition.

According to researchers at the UCSF Diabetes Center, the study is being deemed a successful breakthrough and is being funded by both the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Science Daily reported that research is expected to continue on the cancer treatments and the associated findings until a safe and efficient clinical trial for humans can be adequately developed.

Diabetes Types 1 and 2

Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are unique and have distinct characteristics in their makeup. Additionally, medications for either condition are markedly different and cannot be taken for the opposite condition as severe health risks may occur.

According to a Science Daily news article, "type 1 diabetes is caused by an autoimmune response that destroys insulin-secreting cells in the pancreas," whereas the Mayo Clinic described type 2 diabetes as "a chronic condition that affects the way the body metabolizes sugar (glucose)."

Both conditions are, however, preceded by pre-diabetes, which is when "blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes," according to the National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse (NDIC), which is a service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).

If an individual is diagnosed with pre-diabetes can participate in weight loss and physical activities to better their situation. However, it is still important for individuals at risk for pre-diabetes and diabetes to not only speak with their physician on the disease, but to also know the signs and symptoms of diabetes, which include the following as described by the NDIC:

* blurry eyesight

* dry, itchy skin

* slow-healing sores

* unexplained weight loss

* urinating often

* excessively thirsty and hungry

* feeling tired

* losing feeling in the feet or experiencing a tingling sensation in the feet

Prescription Drugs For Diabetes

Currently, there are an array of diabetes drugs flooding the market, and, several of those may have severe side effects that are often overlooked by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is severely understaffed and underfunded according to a Reader's Digest magazine news article, and by physicians as well as negligent patients.

An example of one such drug that has made waves of controversy for its allegedly dangerous side effects, but still exists on shelves, is that of Avandia. Avandia, also known as rosiglitazone, is a type 2 diabetes drug that has been linked to both an increased risk of heart disease and bone fractures among patients, according to a 2007 article in The New England Journal of Medicine and a Swiss study.

Although the drug has reportedly been linked to serious risks, it is still available on the market and has not been recalled by the FDA. It may be necessary for an Avandia victim to contact an experienced pharmaceutical attorney for the most information on a potential class action lawsuit.
