Everyone has seen real estate sale signs. They are everywhere. You can hardly walk down a street without falling over them. Hands down this is the most common advertising tool that a real estate business uses. But you want to stand out and be remembered in a positive way. Is there any way to do that when business is so competitive and people are buying all kinds of advertising aids? I am here to assure you that there are some ways that you can be a cut above the others.It takes a little time, a little imagination and a big heart. You can promote an image of caring and community involvement while still advertising for yourself. This can sometimes be a balancing act, but I am here to give you a few ideas and pointers to help you run across that tightrope without a problem.



* Handwrite a testimonial to a neighborhood business - Use your business stationary that includes your contact information. A hand written note is fairly unknown in this time of technology, especially from a business. There are multiple positive points to giving a local company a testimonial. They will display it, which gets your name out. People will feel you are supporting local business, which is a positive image to promote. Hand written notes are not only rare, but because time is in such short supply, the person who hand writes a note is thought of as someone who cares. In real estate a client who feels that they are cared about will pass along your name to friends and relatives.

* Give a Birthday Gift - Many businesses jumped on the bandwagon and began sending birthday cards to clients. It no longer has the same effect as it did in the past, but what about sending a small gift instead? If gifts are not in the budget, go with a very personal approach. Stop by that persons work or home just to tell them "Happy Birthday" in person. Not only will they feel special, but those around them will notice as well.

* Give a Christmas Gift - No your aren't seeing double. This is a slightly different idea. This is an idea I found when researching. A real estate agent send a gift basket to her clients. she has them custom designed and inside are batteries along with wishes for "much energy" in the coming year. The agents name is not included, so I cannot give credit, but whoever you are, that's a fantastic idea!

* Buy a cup of coffee - Another idea I cannot take personal credit for, but one that really caught my interest (could that be because I love coffee?). If you are in the drive thru, buy a cup of coffee (or a soda) for the person in the car behind you. Also leave your card to be given to the person along with the free drink.

* Volunteer - Getting involved in the community always helps to create goodwill. If you choose something that relates to housing it would correlate in the mind of your potential clients.

As you can see by doing a few small things you can make quite a difference in how people view you. The personal touch promotes a positive image and makes people want to tell others about you.
