T In The Park 2008

    View:
It's a festival to beat all festivals and it's even bigger and better this year. T in the Park turns 15 and it's back with a talent line up reading like a who's who in dance music. The T2008 fairgrounds have been expanded and still feature that dizzyingly high Ferris wheel and Healthy T is back with all the delicious, nutritious munch you want.

Scheduled acts include Rage Against the Machine, Eddy Grant, The Pogues, REM, Amy Winehouse, Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls, The Hoosiers, Echo & The Bunnymen, Chemical Brothers, Panic at the Disco and The Verve. Some other of the listed acts are Kings of Leon, The Fratellis, Interpol, Primal Scream and a seemingly endless list of others.

It's an unheard of list of 180 artists, performing on 11 stages over three days in July. With a fun fair, vendor stalls, including a global food village and on-site camping, T in the Park 2008 offers an exceptional festival experience like no other.

It's Not Just a Mega Concert

One of last years? most popular events at TITP was the Silent Disco, and it's back again. Don a pair of headphones and join the crowd on the dance floor or just giggle from the sidelines. The Bacardi B-Live Tent will be back for the 10th year with some of dance music's hottest names.

The T in the Park's Global Food Village is expanded for 2008 with a huge selection of munchables - everything from a juice bar, fresh fruit and wraps to porridge, baked potatoes, organic meats and even seafood and fajitas.

Attendance at past T in the Park events has topped 75,000 and 2008 is shaping up to be another sell-out success. Featuring annual entertainment line ups of some of the world's most exciting musical acts, and ranging from local talent to super stars like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, REM, The Who, Primal Scream and others, it's no wonder the festival has become so popular.

Green T

In 2006, T in the Park became the world's largest CarbonNeutral festival. The cup recycling project ? Redeem, Reduce, Recycle - introduced in 2006 and continued in 2007 saw over 75% of all cups returned to designated recycling points.

Balado Rocks Out

T in the Park moved to the Balado Activity Centre near Kinross in 1997, placing it in the heart of Scotland, and making it more accessible to fans from remote areas. It's also turned into one of the country's biggest tourist attractions with more than 45 per cent of attendees coming from other countries.

You can enjoy the ?true festival experience? by camping on-site for the whole weekend. Tickets may be purchased for either tent or campervan accommodations, and the campsite becomes a centre of after-dark activity with its own bars and food stalls. There is also a quiet campsite for those who aren't into the nighttime party scene; security and police patrol the entire campsite area. With a campsite capacity of 60,000, it's the largest campground around.

Takin? It Home

The festival TITP experience doesn't end after the weekend and their website features downloadable healthy recipes, including falafels from The Hairy Bikers and steamed salmon from Martin Wishart so you can take the tastes of the festival home with you.

Getting to T in the Park is easy, with Citylink shuttle busses running 26 routes across Scotland and 8 routes from England, as well as shuttle bus service from the major train stations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth.

So now you're all excited and you want to go, right? But when is it? T in the Park 2008 at Balado, Kinross-Shire runs Friday 11th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July. It's not just about the headline acts, it's a whole weekend of fun with music, dancing, funfair rides and food ? there's something for everyone, and 2008 is sure to be another terrific year for the T.
