The new plan will see upgradation by Chunghwa's Internet Television (Internet TV) from the present MPEG-2 supported systems, which consumers get on their digital set-top boxes manufactured via alliance with Alcatel SA & Acer Inc.



IPTV, often considered by fixed-line providers a chance to make revenue & pre-empt landline users opting for mobile, is on a rising stage globally, but it's rapidly becoming a reality of existence in China.

"With Microsoft, Chunghwa Telecommunications will open & completely customizable network, which will help them to be in front of the transforming telecom landscape by introducing latest services, rapidly and cost-effectively.
