Right before my precious mother passed away, I remember vividly when she said, ?Enjoy Life? while you're young, because you don't know what alignments you'll have once you get older. Live your life to its fullest potential and have FUN! Being emotionally attached and overwhelmed, because of her illness, I wasn't thinking about getting older or potential alignments or enjoying life & having fun. My focus and energy was on her and her well being. Years later, after much reflection of many memories we shared these words? ?Enjoy Life? stayed deep within my heart and soul.
On my Journey of Empowerment, I realize that Life is a Choice! Life is what you choose to make of it or not to make of it.
I realized I wanted to choose the Life I Desire. Not, settle for what Life gives me. Have you heard the phrase, ?When you change the way you think about things, those things will change?? The first time I heard this phrase used, was by Dr. Ellie Drake, an amazing Transformational & Inspirational Speaker. When I became consciously aware that I can choose the Life I Desire, I made a decision to change the way I looked at my Life. I decided to ?Enjoy Life? and create Love, Peace, Harmony and Happiness within my life.
Then I connected something else, while continuing my Journey of Empowerment. I'm sure you've heard this phrase used before, ?What you think about is what you bring about.? When I started reflecting on things I use to think about, for example, ?I think I'm catching a cold? or ?I think I'm going to run into traffic? or ?I think I'm going to be late for my appointment,? etc. And, what ultimately happened, the inevitable, right? I would catch a cold, I would run into traffic, and I would be late for my appointment. So, what I use to focus on, I would get more of it. Then, I decided to focus on positive thoughts and feelings. And guess what happened? My Life began to change and positive events started happening in my Life.
I also learned something even more powerful, along my Journey of Empowerment. It turned out to be the secret, key ingredient to receiving empowerment. When I infuse ?Gratitude? with positive thoughts and feelings, I FEEL a higher level of ?BEING.? Meaning, ?BEING? Love, being at Peace, being in Harmony and being in Joy, deep from within. In case you're wondering, what does infusing ?Gratitude? means? To me, it means being grateful for where I am today in my life. And, being grateful for all things ? the good & not so good. For example, when I awake in the mornings and see a new day, a new beginning? I start my day out by saying ?Thank You? God (or your higher power of belief) for allowing me to see another Beautiful Day! Therefore, it's my intention to infuse positive energy, thoughts and feelings into having a Beautiful Day. How you decide to start your day is your choice. It's up to you to make a conscious effort and give gratitude for the many gifts you receive daily.
I've shared a few ingredients of what I've learned on my Journey of Empowerment. In closing, allow yourself to make a conscious Choice & create the Life you Desire! Change the way you think about things, one thought at a time by re-conditioning your thoughts, and then you'll re-condition your feelings. Ultimately, what you think about is what you FEEL. Infuse ?Gratitude? daily! ?Choose? the Life you Desire! And, like my mother shared with me, ?Enjoy Life?? and ?Enjoy? your Journey of Empowerment!

Basketball was invented in December 1891 by the Canadian clergyman and a physician Mr. James Naismith. He introduced the game when he was an instructor at the Y.M.C.A Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts. Upon request from his superior, Dr. Luther H. Gulick, he programmed a vigorous recreation suitable for indoor winter play. The game involved aspects of American football, soccer, and hockey; and the soccer ball was the first ball used. Teams had 9 players and the goals were made of wooden peach baskets fixed on to the walls. By 1897-1898, teams of 5 became standard. The game spread like wildfire nationwide and to Canada and to the other parts of the world, played by both men and women; it also gained its popularity as an informal outdoor game. U.S. servicemen in World War II (1939-1945) popularized the sport in many other countries as they traveled to fight. A number of colleges in United States took up this game between 1893 and 1895. In 1934 the first college games were held in New York City's Madison Square Garden and college basketball began to attract towering interest all over. By the mid 1950s basketball had become a major college sport in America, thus carving the way for the booming interest in professional basketball.
The first pro Competition, the National Basketball League was organized in 1898 to protect players from exploitation and in turn to promote a smooth game. This league lasted just five years before disbanding; its death spawned a number of loosely organized leagues throughout the northeastern side of the US. One of the 1st and greatest pro teams was charged in the form of original Celtics reigning from New York City. They performed in as many as 150 games in a single season and dominated basketball crown until 1936. The Harlem Globetrotters, formed in 1927, specializes in expert ball handling and amusing court antics. The NBA suffered a drop in popularity during the late 1970s, but was resurrected through the growing popularity of its most prominent players. Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics and Magic Johnson of the LA Lakers are credited with imparting excitement into the league in the late 1980s through their superior skills and a 10 year long rivalry.
During the late 1980s Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls rose to popularity and helped the Bulls rule the NBA arena during the early 1990s. The NBA Bandwagon was carried brilliantly by the new generation of basketball stars, including Shaquille O'Neal of the Orlando Magic and Larry Johnson of the Charlotte Hornets, and have helped a great deal in sustaining the NBA's growth in popularity. In 1959 The Basketball Hall of Fame was founded in Springfield, Massachusetts. It's being updated and ruled by the greats in the game and it includes the names of great players, coaches, referees and people who have contributed significantly to the development of the game.
