DON’T give up. Lots of marketing guides promise vast sums very fast, but I think it’s unusual (if it ever happens!)It takes time. When I started my first ever Adwords campaign I made $50 from the first click 20 minutes into the whole thing! Needless to say that was blind luck-Any thoughts of quitting my job right then were gradually quashed as I waited 2 weeks for the next sale. But I kept going, and so should you!
DON’T be a spurt marketer- If submitting to a search engine then sending a Solo ad out three weeks later and doing nothing in-between sound familiar, I mean you! Give yourself tasks for each day-Even if you keep to a small target of 1 task a day, such as adding one new link-after a week you will be receiving more traffic than the week before. It’s that simple.
DON’T skimp on your ad tracking- Only concrete figures will let you ascertain where you should repeat advertise and where you should not- Track EVERYTHING. There’s nothing worse than that nagging feeling of “Should I try that copy again?" That feeling comes from bad tracking habits. Track properly-The growth of your business will be smoother if you have a clear cut idea of what is working for you and what is not.
DON’T abuse your opt-ins/downline- They are valuable-treat them that way! Try not to pitch them too often. Mix up the content of your letter too. As well as the sales pitches, why not include say, a quality newsletter and some genuinely useful (non affiliate) links? I think everyone is more responsive this way.
DON’T forget traditional sources of info. Read up on advertising copy. Visit a library and get busy in the business section-It’s FREE! Learn about offline advertising-your ads will really stand out if you put some real technique in there. Advertising technology may have evolved, but people’s urges have stayed the same for thousands of years and certain ad techniques have been developed to focus tightly on those needs. If you can translate that into your online copy, you are set.
So there we are folks. Those are the main things I discovered the hard way. Take these on board and hopefully you won’t have to.
