It won't be at a dueling piano bar, but renditions of “Sweet Caroline” are sure to be heard this weekend, anyway. The Grammy Awards are to be held on Feb. 8, but two days prior to the glitz and glamour the man of the evening will be the one and only Neil Diamond. Diamond was named the 2009 MusiCares Person of the Year, and the legendary vocalist will be honored for the recognition Feb. 6 at the Grammy Week gala dinner and concert.

Six-time Grammy Award winners the Foo Fighters may seem like unlikely prospects to pay tribute to this contemporary soft rock singer/songwriter, but Dave Grohl and Co. will take the lead in tackling a tribute concert chalk full of Neil Diamond classics, from “Sweet Caroline” to “I've Been This Way Before.” The Foo Fighters will take the stage in a Diamond-filled night alongside other music heavyweights like Josh Groban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Kid Rock, Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Hudson and more, all of whom will be performing Neil Diamond songs in the concert. This star-studded production is just one part of the night's activities, and a charity auction will also take place the same night, featuring Diamond's own 1956 Ford Thunderbird as one of the auctioned items, as well as a signed guitar by Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan harmonica, Janis Joplin autographed photograph and more.

The Foo Fighters haven't been at the forefront of the music industry as long as Neil Diamond, but this Seattle-based quartet has made its time in the spotlight count. The band's frontman Dave Grohl got his start in the music industry as the drummer for Nirvana, but he formed the basis for the Foo Fighters in 1995 following Kurt Cobain's death.
