Not many people are aware that the wedding industry is worth almost 25.5 billion dollars every year and it is not surprising when the average cost of a wedding is between twenty to twenty five thousand dollars. There is no need however, for you to spend this amount on your wedding day and have a disastrous wedding as a consequence because by planning a cheap wedding there are ways to reduce costs. All you need is few ideas to point you in the right direction and you can have a wedding to be proud of at a fraction of the cost.



Of course the bride will want a designed, hand made dress but this is very expensive but it is something where savings can be made, especially if consider using a second hand wedding dress. As it has probably only been worn once anyway and you can get a once expensive dress for half the price so consider buying an evening gown/cocktail dress from a department store or look into renting your wedding dress for the day.

Of course it is planning the cheap wedding reception where the real savings can be made and with an average of just under two hundred guests attending every wedding reception it is easy to see how you can reduced the financial outlay. Firstly is don't invite everyone you know, in particular relatives you may not have seen since you were a child and as far as the meal is concerned why opt for a buffet instead of a full three course meal. Other reductions can be made in where the wedding reception is held which can easily be in a friend's house or a local club and to save money on drink, why not only supply beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water.

Although many photographers stay for the whole of the wedding, it is cheaper to only hire them for just the ceremony and then place disposable cameras on the tables for the guests to use; then collect them later. Although you may not like the idea, there is no reason why you couldn't have all the wedding day photos taken by your guests and you will find yourself saving many hundreds of dollars.

Other areas where you can be assured of saving money for your cheap wedding is on things like wedding invitations and place settings for example which can easily be produced to a very high standard on a home computer. With the quality of printers available now and the sophistication of the programs it is not surprising that very professional looking results can be achieved at home.

Providing you do not mind a little flower arranging, there is no reason why the flowers for the wedding cannot be purchased for a wholesaler just as florists do. Many people have friends who are very capable cooks and love to bake so why not let them bake a two or three tier cake made from sponge, or even a chocolate cake for the wedding reception. As a last cost saving measure, have one of your friends or relations who has a nice car to decorate it for the wedding day and use this instead of a costly limousine because there are many things you can spend all those savings on!
