Everyone on the Internet is looking for something and if your site has the content they are looking fro, be it a product or service, they should be able to find your site. If they don’t they will find some other site that gives them what they want. Statistics show that visitors usually stay with the first site that has the content they are searching for and if the site is designed to capture and engross the visitor for three minutes then the visitor will very probably stay and go through the entire site. This is the importance of designing the site for total content targeting. Target your site and the content and never miss out on a potential customer.



Total content targeting can be discussed in two ways. First the target audience that the site is catering to must be taken into account when the site is being promoted on the various search engines. Then the content of the site itself must be designed and created to appeal to the target audience who will visit the site. Let us take for example the search engines. When some one is looking for a product to do with basketball they will type specific keywords relating to basketball. Now your site is dealing with construction of basketball courts and has nothing to do with the equipment used in basketball games. Your site will be targeted at everyone who has anything to do with basketball. The total content targeting of your site will include all these people. So when any searches for a product relating to basketball even your basketball court construction service site ill appear in the search results. But will this help you in any way? Yes it will. You site will have relevant content targeting the person who is searching for a basketball as well. This content targeting the potential customer of a basketball will be in the form of a link to another site that deals with basketballs.

This is called link building. Each related site will host the links of the other sites that may not be competitors but belong to the same category of industry. Search engines do a good job of directing traffic to your site by studying the category of the advertisements and directing the people who may be interested in you products to your site.

It is important to create relevant content that attracts visitors to your site and keep them there until they decide on the product or service they want to use. Content of the site is the main reason any visitor will be looking for your site. If it is difficult for the visitor to find you or your content, they will find someone else who will. Your content should fulfill the need for the visitor; whether this need is for information, merchandise or a service, and it should communicate it clearly. Moreover a rule of thumb to follow is to create content containing about 250 to 300 keywords relating to your site. This will enable search engine spiders to find and list your site so everyone looking for the product or service will be able to fid the site fast and easily.
