I don't claim to be smarter than Bill Gates but I do see an obvious trend
happening today. About 10 years ago, the Internet gave birth to the MLM
and Network Marketing INTERNET PROSPECTING Industry. This recent trend has
created a whole new industry. Many service and marketing companies have
been born out of this new trend and the subsequent demand it created. They
have designed and built websites and systems in order to prospect and
generate leads for MLM, Network Marketing, Direct Sales Companies and
their Distributors. Some of the better known Internet Prospecting
Companies are [http://www.growthpro.com/] Growth Pro,
[http://www.mlm-leads-generation.com/] Prospect Connect and
[http://www.mlmbrilliance.com/] MLM Brilliance.
Available primarily in English, these companies charge anywhere from
$19.95 per month upwards to $39.95 per month just to provide their
customers a Prospecting Website. Customers must, however, populate the
contact management database with their own prospects as a rule. Other
companies will charge anywhere from $70 to $200 per month for a
Prospecting Website with pre-qualified leads. As an example, you might
want 15 leads per month to be included with your website @ $70 per month
OR 100 leads to be included @ $200 per month. Don't kid yourself; there
are thousands of Network Marketers who pay these fees simply because they
no longer want to be bothered with prospecting on their own.
When you think of prospecting, I suggest you think outside the box of
"what you know" or "what you know that you don't
know". Remember there exists a domain called "That which you
don't even know that you don't know yet" and it's far greater than
the former two domains listed here. Look at prospecting like a wheel with
many spokes attached to it and every spoke of this prospecting wheel will
help you build your business. As a whole, these spokes keep the wheel
turning in balance. Here are a few Prospecting spokes that come to mind
immediately but there are undoubtedly many many more:
-
Family members, friends and current business associates
-
Past co-workers, co-students, teachers, etc.
-
Suppliers are a good source of prospects seeing as they are the people you
hand over your hard earned money to. Your dentist, your insurance and real
estate agents, doctor, lawyer, accountant, banker, etc.
-
Cold Market Prospecting also ensures you keep your prospect list full at
all times (spontaneous introductions, newspaper advertising, sizzle cards,
flyers, business cards, Bulletin boards, etc.
My point is that there is a multitude of ways to build and maintain an
ongoing list of prospects. The question you may want to ask yourself is:
"What kind of prospect list am I attracting into my life and why am I
attracting it?" (especially if your list is not constantly renewing
and full)

Leads/prospects experience the products and then concretely show a vote of confidence through their wallets. Converted customers are regular, loyal users of the product line ( i.e., satisfied, committed fans.)
Customers move to the next level of relationship with you and want to know about the business opportunity. They then become active distributors themselves and begin to build their own downlines by introducing members. This process repeats itself over and over again.
This sounds like a simple progression of action steps, right? Not necessarily. If you have no leads, you have...
No sales conversion. No ongoing consumption. No one to replicate.
Offline, it's easy to understand why people fail at network marketing. Many people have trouble working up the courage to recruit and generate new leads. They fear rejection.
Offline, it's not easy to appoach strangers, those who are outside their "warm circle of prospects". That's why most offline Network Marketers accomplish very little.
But Online?
Generating leads is made for the Net. Even the most introverted individual can build a successful Network Marketing business without leaving the comfort of his or her home. It's no longer necessary to have a huge and continually expanding circle of social contacts or a powerful, extroverted personality to become successful.
But that's not the way matters have unfolded. Most people in the industry try to force offline methods to an online world. Based on observable results, it's easy to conclude that this approach just doesn't work.
It's time to put the Net into Network Marketing.
In fact, there is no need to 'push' (i.e., chase cold calls/prospects) when you can motivate potential customers and business-builders to 'pull' (i.e., people want to call you to learn more). That's the beauty of the Net in a nutshell.
Online, people search for information. They look for solutions.
They are not looking for you or your downline. People are not looking for your companies products. And they are not looking for a business opportunity.
Nine times out of ten, they are not exactly sure who/what can provide what they need. People rely on Search Engines to source possibilities that are worth their time and effort to visit.
Before you can monetize your audience, you must demonstrate that you truly have their best interests at heart. You can achieve this by giving them honest, viable solutions and steering them away from inappropriate ones. That is the essence of effective PREselling, building trust and credibility.
