The sense of smell can be one of the most interesting and odd effects on your body. Your sense of smell comes from olfactory nerves which are located on your nose forms a response to your brain which is called the Limbic system which control your memory. An example of how this works, when someone remembers a homemade meal that your mother have made, and now every time it is cooked you can remember the smell whether it is good or bad.
Essential oils are very strong and are typically inhaled for their healing scent although they can be rubbed on the skin as well. However, one must be careful to dilute the essential oil before applying topically.
You can enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy at home. Simply purchase a diffuser and some essential oils; there are many to choose from, and you can experiment with your own scents. Aromatherapy is healthy and will help you relax and ease daily tension.
Talk to your doctor about using aromatherapy as part of an alternative medicine program. Essential oils are generally safe, though people may be allergic to a particular plant, and should avoid oils from that plant. Also, the oils are very concentrated, so you may need to dilute them to avoid skin irritation and overdose.
Aromatherapy essential oils are great for boosting your immune system and relieving stress but can also be used to help with things like joint pain, skin tone and menstrual cramps. If you have trouble sleeping, there are certain aromas that will help you get a good nights sleep and aromatherapy can also be effective in relieving headaches too.
