If you are already out there trying to find affiliate opportunities online that means you have already made the following decisions: 1) You are going to establish an online business. 2) You are not going to sell your own products or services 3) You are not going to sell products and services that you have resell rights for. 4) You are going to sell other people's products and services. If you are just starting out your online business journey, it is very crucial to know exactly what you are doing before you realize that you have wasted your time and maybe money on a type of business model that was not what you wanted in the first place. Most people will go for the search engines and start typing in what they are looking for, hoping that they will find something that will suit them. There is nothing wrong with this methodology. The problem here is that in most cases people do not really know what they are looking for and what the consequence of this action could be. Going to search engines to look for information on how to establish a home business online will most likely sway you into searching for affiliate opportunities. Not only that; since you are new you might get attracted by all the hype presented in that information and you will most likely get encouraged to pull out your business card to pay for that fist subscription. Slow down!! I believe that starting your online business through affiliate opportunities is a wonderful way to start your journey. But before you make any decisions you need to know the following: 1) What are major online business models available? 2) What each model entails in terms of knowledge, skills, resources, tools and estimated investment. 3) If finally you decided on the affiliate business model, then what kind of affiliate opportunities you want to look for? We will answer the first question for you with a brief touch on the second question. We will be safe to say that online businesses fall under the following three major models:
1- To market your own product/service:
This means that you either have a certain product or service that you want to market or that you have reseller rights to a product or service. To be able venture into this type of business you must have acquired a very good experience in online marketing. It is not advisable at all to venture into this type of online business without having solid understanding of the internet and how it works. With this method you are totally on your own.
2- To market other people's products and services: This is called affiliate marketing. With this method you will get a percentage of the retail price of each unit you sell for the business you are affiliated with. This can only be made easy if the affiliate opportunity you are studying is able to provide a comprehensive and detailed online marketing training. You will also need to make sure that you have excellent support system that will help you whenever you are stuck. There aren't many out there with these features, but if you look hard you will be able to find them. Still if you are comfortable with your online marketing skills you might not need to worry too much about such issues.
3- Creating advertising sites: The most common of those is what are called Adsense sites. With this option you will have to be comfortable with creating websites and managing keywords. The best way to do that is to be able to choose your market by keyword niche and create a dynamic website which is full of information that is important to your target market. Allow others to advertise on your site and charge for it and register with Google Adsense who in turn will post related ads on your website and each time the ad is clicked Google pays you.
