The main issue that causes high cholesterol is a poor diet. The reason most people have such poor diets is because of all the fast food joints that have been popping up everywhere pushing their bad cholesterol foods on everyone. What you need most in your diet is all of the foods that provide the good cholesterol. Heart attacks are considered to be the biggest complication that is attributed to bad cholesterol. Keeping up with an unhealthy diet will do nothing for you but cause problems so you need to learn how to better take care of yourself.
Since you're generally not aware of your cholesterol levels it is always a great idea to go see the doctor. They can tell you by running a few tests if you have high cholesterol. They can also tell you what foods contain bad cholesterol and which ones contain good cholesterol. Now we will look at some ways you can naturally keep your cholesterol at a good level.
Exercise is a great plus when setting out to maintain a good cholesterol level. Being a couch potato causes you to gain weight by slowing down your metabolism. So get up and get moving for your body's sake.
Eat a lot of different fruits anytime during the day. Fruits are a great natural choice and you can grab one for a snack or even a good start to a meal.
When you go to the store to pick out meat at the store choose the leaner cuts. You can even ask for leaner cuts when you go to a restaurant.
Whole wheat is not only good for cholesterol it is great for your overall health as well. Grab wheat bread instead of white bread next time you go shopping.
Cut out the fast foods from your diet. These killers in a bag do nothing to help you and everything to hurt you. Instead of a sack of oily fries grab some fruit or a handful of veggies.
Switch from those old cooking oils and start using olive oil. Olive oil is definitely healthier and it can be found in recipes from any type of diet.
No matter what you are told high cholesterol is a huge problem for anyone no matter what your age. It can cause numerous health problems and even death. So the next time your in a rush and want to grab a snack stop by the market and grab a piece of fresh fruit and your body will thank you for it.
