Green Tea For Diet
Justin Flowers
Becoming overweight is among the chief health issues in our society. More than half of the population of the USA is overweight if not obese. As a result, weight loss and diet plans are increasingly trendy. But several diet plans don't work, and not all of them are guaranteed risk-free. One of the better alternatives for those concerned about their weight are green tea diets.
Because the health inducing qualities of green tea have not been so widely publicised as you could expect, there are countless people who are oblivious to its possibilities. There are no rigid rules for undertaking the diet, as all it really means is including three, or more cups of green tea on a daily basis with a balanced and healthy diet.
Green tea diet is said to help with a number of different ailments including resistance to blood clots associated with strokes and heart attacks.
The Origin Of Green Tea
Green tea has been renowned by the Chinese for thousands of years as a therapeutic drink. It was believed that it was initially used by a Chinese Emperor called Shen Nung who was apparently boiling water when the leaves of a nearby tree landed in his pot. The outcome was the first of millions of pots of green tea.
Like all three of the major Asian teas in the market, green tea comes from the plant known as Carmellia sinensis. Some of the health benefits are associated with the steaming method of preparation. Unlike black and oolong tea that undergoes complete oxidization, green tea is only gently steamed, preserving its important antioxidants in the best way possible.
Like many things, green tea is a taste you need to acquire, and there are certainly many people who start to take it, but fall by the wayside, as they don't like the tang. But, they should be made aware that green tea supplements are obtainable to purchase in tablet or capsule form, and there is no point in not getting the health benefits.
Good Health With Green Tea Diets
You should be aware that there are numerous health benefits associated with having a green tea diet. Amongst these benefits is preventing cancer. A substance present in green tea is said to assist in destroying cancer cells without harming any adjacent tissues. This substance is known as epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG.
The EGCG in green tea diets is considered useful in improving the 24-hour energy output of the body. A study conducted by US and Swiss scientists in the University of Geneva recorded an additional boost of four percent in the body's normal energy expenditure. Individuals on a green tea diet were likely to use up more fats than others not doing so.
Green tea diets are believed to seriously assist in lowering cholesterol levels in humans. The study on the diets was conducted in China using 240 individuals with high cholesterol counts. The subjects were put on a green tea diet comprising of one capsule or were instructed to swallow one placebo every day. One capsule is roughly equivalent to seven cups of green tea. After twelve weeks, those who were given a green tea diet registered a drop of sixteen percent in their cholesterol levels.
It is considered green tea may also be a helpful therapy for obesity. Catechin polyphenols present in the tea may delay the response of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. The enzymes are responsible for changing calories in the body into fats. In delaying the enzymes, green tea can stop fat from being stocked up and help to prevent obesity occuring.
Be aware that green tea diets have certain amounts of caffeine that make it a mild appetite-restrainer. But, the caffeine contained in the tea is lower than that in some other beverages, containing caffeine like coffee. Consider that caffeine can be harmful to the body as too much may cause insomnia, heart palpitations, and hypertension. Green tea diets hold quite low quantities of caffeine, and so there is little danger of suffering such complications.
