How To Run Long Distance

Many people decide that they want to take up running to lose weight and they don't research the possible dangers. Yes, running can be dangerous if you do not take the right precautions. There are three big factors in keeping runners' healthy and safe stretching, drinking water, and taking vitamins. By doing these three things during running you avoid injury and future health problems. You can pull your muscles, suffer from heat stroke, and even die if you do not take the proper steps.
Stretching is vital in caring for your muscles. As you grow older your muscles contract and stretching keeps them long. Through stretching you expand your range of motion and become more flexible. Over working your muscles causes them to contract and strain. By stretching you force your strained muscles to lengthen and keep their shape. Stretching helps your muscles expand their level of tolerance and helps preserve them for your future.
Keeping hydrated while running is a matter of life and death. If you run long-distances races, and do not keep yourself hydrated then you run the risk of getting heat stroke or dying. Every year there is at least one person that dies while running a marathon. This is because they did not hydrate enough and pushed their body too far. It is of the upmost importance to listen to your body, and let it tell you when you're going too far. Your body will tell you by making you feel nauseous, blurry vision, difficulty breathing, and many other warning signs. Keeping yourself hydrated while running is important, but it is equally important too not over hydrate yourself. Drinking too much water while running can be the cause of great discomfort. Still you need to understand that when you run you sweat a great deal and it is your job to replenish that bit of lost water in your body.
Last but not least is the need to take vitamins. Since your body is being worked hard it will need that extra bit of vitamins and minerals. Supplements help your muscles repair more quickly and gives you more energy. Taking daily vitamins helps to stock your body on the vitamins and minerals it needs to function properly. When you use your body to work out hard it is essential that you supply it with the fuel it needs to perform at the right standards. Running is an incredible exercise, but if you don't do these three things you can be doing your body more harm than good.
