How To Grow A Bonsai Tree
Chris Channing
The Eastern countries of the world are the primary experts when it comes to bonsai trees. But as the Western countries become more informed of the wonders in art and horticulture, the wrong idea is also obtained. Instead of the notion that bonsai trees come from poor care, Westerners find that the opposite is true.
Bonsai trees are a creation of human curiousity and nature. They actually got their start around 4,000 years ago in the Eastern hemisphere of the world, where the techniques in growing the trees first started to become common. Since the 4,000 years have passed, the bonsai tree has become quite an icon in the Eastern culture and surrounding areas.
A bonsai tree is able to grow to minimal lengths thanks to the pots that they grow in. Pots with limited room will also restrict the room in which roots of the tree can grow. And if the roots of the tree can't stretch, less minerals and waters are able to be taken in. As a result, the tree will only grow to a small size to compensate for the reduction in resources it needs to grow and thrive.
Pruning is another key aspect of bonsai tree design. Pruning is the process of removing any type of leaves, twigs, branches, or roots that may be growing too large or anything that has died. This is important not only for keeping the size small, but for keeping dead parts of the plant out of the way so the plant can continue to prosper without hindrance. Pruning is done quiet frequently for the average bonsai tree.
Watering the bonsai plant is very important, since they have less roots to intake moisture. Heat and wind exposure can dry the plant up and kill it with haste- so it's important to keep the soil damp at all times. This means that constant watering is needed in addition to the careful pruning and other care factors. Keep in mind that watering too frequently will allow fungus to grow- so do so in moderation.
Finally, more choice is given to bonsai growing consumers with malleable wiring. A flexible type of wire, such as copper, can be wrapped around the tree in order to shape it to one's own liking. This is how intricate shapes and designs of bonsai trees are obtained. The wiring process can easily kill the bonsai plant if care isn't taken- so be sure to get help from a professional if enough experience isn't obtained in one's own endeavors.
In Conclusion
As we can very well see, the bonsai tree is a very complicated piece of work. It requires much care and specifics in growing. This will obviously take a lot of time and care- so never start a bonsai project without any intentions to actually finish it. If all else fails, buying a book or even taking online classes would be a nice solution to learn more about the subject before actually trying to learn from trial and error.
