Every bride says she want their bridesmaid to have a dress that they will wear again later on in their lifetime. The reality is that this is not going to happen. There was a rule that if a wedding is going to be in the evening then the colors should be very formal. Meaning it is black and white for the bridal party. That is not the case anymore.
