The world wide web explosion, has made it very easy for people from all over the world to communicate, and share information and ideas online. This naturally led to an increase in the number of businesses promoting their products via the internet. Unfortunately, this also led to unscrupulous marketers stuffing our inboxes with unsolicited offers, or otherwise known as spam. Fortunately, new laws have largely stopped this very annoying practice.
For most people trying to earn extra income online, the easiest approach is to promote affiliate products or services. Basically, this means that you would be promoting some other persons product or service in return for a percentage of the sale. This commission based marketing has grown significantly in the last few years, with thousands of products and programs available for a promoter to choose from.
Signing up as an affiliate, is pretty easy. There are some great sites such as Clickbank and Commission Junction which play host to hundreds of different affiliate programs. The tricky part is promoting these products and services, and getting people to buy and by so doing earn you a commission. Some popular promotion methods are Pay Per Click, Blog submission and Article submission.
The majority of new internet marketers usually begin with Pay Per Click or PPC advertising. PPC is when you place an ad on a search engine such as Google or MSN, and bid on keywords and phrases relevant to your product or service. When somebody clicks on your ad, you are billed for the amount you have bid. This may sound like an easy way to make money, but unless you have a good understanding of the process, you will probably lose money.
Blogging. A blog is a website, where people can express their views, and share their thoughts with the world. Blogs are fairly easy to create, and add content to. The idea behind a blog, is to make it interesting enough to attract peoples attention, and also be interesting enough to keep them coming back to read the latest submissions. Naturally, you would have links on your blog leading back to your product sales page.
Writing articles and reviews, is another popular form of affiliate, or product promotion. First you would find a good affiliate product or service to promote, then do bit of keyword research, so that the search engines will be able to find your article. Then write a 400 - 1500 word article on your chosen subject and then submit it to as many of the hundreds of article directories available. This can either be done manually or through an article submission service.
The learning curve for anyone starting out in internet marketing, is a steep one. But if you are genuinely interested in how to get wealthy online, then you must b prepared for a bit of frustration and disappointment. You will also find yourself being tempted by new products and programs and fads, but try and become an expert on one thing before going on to the next.
