As far as India is concerned, here daughters are transferred from the house of their parents to the house of their in laws and they are supposed to spend the remaining part of their lives in that house. Just on marriage the house of their parents become a house of the strangers and if she visits the house of her parents occasionally, these visits are temporary and she is expected to return to the house of her in laws within a short period.
Though the daughter goes to the house of her in laws, but still the parents of the daughter cannot say that she has got no concern with them. she is their blood and therefore, she remains in hearts of her parents. they had been bringing her up, they had been giving her proper education which they could, they had been giving her training which had been in their capacity and they had given her dowry as per their financial position, but still they know that the people in the house of her in laws would not give her the same status, the same honour and the same regard, which she had been having at the house of her parents. There are news that the in laws are hungry of dowry and this demand does not end with the marriage. This demand continues till parents are alive and the parents have got worries and tensions and as and when they hear something from the side of their daughter, they are under pressure. They never expect a good news from the side of their daughter. this is the tragedy of the woman in India and this is the tragedy of the parents who have got daughters. They are under pressure, worries and tensions when they are locating a suitable match for their daughter and they do not know what shall be the demands of the son in law and the people of his house and even after marriage, they know that they would not be in a position to send back their daughters empty handed when they shall be visiting the house of their parents.
That could be the reason that some people here in India have started killing their daughters before they actually take birth. Government may be passing laws, but the worries of the parents are there and the parents want to solve this problem in another way.
The parents of the daughters in India never have sound sleep and they always remain under a pressure and they face mental tension and always pray that their daughters may be sending them good news. But still these worries, these tensions and these pressures from the side of daughters could not be written off.
