Imprisonment of addicts who have committed crime is not the only solution to the racket of addiction. The cost is so exorbitant that investing it for rehabilitation would be a better option. This rehabilitation may also help the criminals to develop various skills which add up to the economic growth.

The treatment of addiction and rehabilitation can render better results because releasing the criminal can endanger the life of the mass. The psychotherapy and counseling given during the course of treatment for addiction helps to prevent further commitment of crime. Some people may argue that addiction is a compulsive disorder and there is no use wasting our time and money on addicts. It is not proper to write off such techniques and trials as they are required for the reformation of the drug abusers.
