A lot of distributors even these days of the Internet revolution that is changing the way we do business still work in a way that doesn't fit in this new environment. And no, I am not talking about people working offline and attacking their warm market trying to make them members in their opportunity.

I am talking about people who are already using the web for advertising and are doing great at building the business of their company but not their own. The company might be the best in the world with awesome high quality products and a compensation plan that rocks, but..

But your making a mistake by not going a step further that would make you more profitable, give you more control and hence eliminate your risks while at the same time you would build your very own asset, your own business. The mistake I am talking about is handing your customers and distributors directly to the company.

Not that you won't do it eventually, otherwise how are you going to get customers and grow your organization. But what you should do is to position yourself in the middle and start building a list. A list of potential customers in the niche your product covers and a list of people interested in starting a home based business. That way the same time you build your organization within your company's structure at the same time you build your own asset. A list that you can cultivate a relationship with your subscribers and that you can further monetize it with additional offers.

Why stay only at company's products or its opportunity. You should utilize everything it has to offer you while at the same time building your own business. By having more control you would be able to make more money both short-term and in the long run.
