It is a good idea to have your engagement and wedding ring made out of the same metal if they are going to be worn next to each other. This is because over a period of time a harder metal such as 9ct gold would wear down a softer metal such as 18ct gold.

Many different patterns are available in wedding rings, such as a plain band or a twisted pattern or engraving. Rings can be made of several bands intertwined together so that they move around each other even though they are as one ring. Some couples have their names and the date of the wedding engraved into their wedding rings to strengthen the symbolism and sentimentality of the rings as they become family heirlooms.

Wedding rings can cost anything from only a few dollars to thousands upon thousands of dollars. It depends totally on what you are buying, what your budget is and what sort of quality you are looking for.

Wedding rings can be tailor made to suit you, you could choose precious stones to be set into your ring, such as diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies and many more. Birth stones are a personal touch to a ring also as a special idea.
