Having anxiety problems can make you feel very lonely and isolated. You might think that you're the only one on earth with the issue. That couldn't be further from the truth, though. In fact, many people are nervous and anxious, just like you.
Anxiety is fear, as most people know, but it's more than just a passing fear. It's a chronic feeling. It can cause you to have cold sweats, nightmares, dizzy spells, nausea and more. So, if you have anxiety problems, it can really affect your day to day life.
If you have anxiety, there is a lot of help available to you. However, most treatment plans involve empowering yourself to deal with your anxiety attacks. In fact, especially if your anxiety is mild, you can learn to deal with your anxiety attacks on your own. It just takes a lot of time, patience and practice to learn to control your attacks. So, don't think that there'll be a quick fix. Be prepared for a long process.
A big step in the battle against anxiety attacks is to simply be prepared. If you know you're going to have frequent attacks, decide on something to do when you feel one coming on. If you repeat that same thing over and over when you have an attack, you should soon find that it helps you to get your anxiety under control.
Proper breathing techniques can also help you to cure your anxiety attacks. It can be hard to think or act without oxygen. Breathing deeply can help to supply your blood with oxygen and make it easier to calm down and solve your anxiety issues. After all, better blood flow and better oxygen supply can make it much easier for you to think clearly.
If you have frequent anxiety attacks, especially at work, one good thing to do is to just get away for a few minutes. Whether you go out to lunch, sit in your car for a few minutes, go to the bathroom or just find an empty office to sit in, it can help the feelings pass. A few minutes to yourself can really help you to calm down. Then you'll be able to focus on the task at hand much better when you return with a calmer state of mind.
Calming yourself down with mental images can also help you with controlling your anxiety attacks. Choose a mental image to picture every time you have an attack. It could be anything that you like, including a pet, a sport, a place or anything else you can dream up, as long as it has a calming effect on you.
Anxiety attacks are not something that can be cured in a day. If you want to regain control of your life, it's going to take time and effort. One thing you can do is keep repeating the techniques in this article. If you stick to it, you may be able to control your attacks over time. So, give it a try. You have nothing to lose.
