Thomas Hardy Neutral Tones
Mark Stephens
Up until recently, many weddings centred around pinks, lilacs, golds and silvers but these are now making way for more modern choices. Neutral and natural colour choices such as greens, browns and creams are now taking over.
Firstly, green is commonly becoming a regular choice for brides who are getting married in the spring and summer. There are so many shades of green to choose from but the general rule of thumb is that pale green looks best on most bridesmaids.
This does not mean that you have to rule out deeper shades such as bottle green and shamrock green, although it is best to limit these to table decorations and favours.
Team green table decorations with crisp white table linen. Tie white favour boxes with personalised ribbon in deep green or sage green and fill with delicious green sugared almonds.
Display floral arrangements containing green/sprayed gerberas, lily of the valley, daisies, white roses and lashings of green foliage. Pure white lilies could also look great in bouquets especially if posies are hand-tied with green ribbon.
Pale browns, truffle colours and chocolate tones are also popular colour choices as they give a fresh, modern and gentle feel to wedding themes. They exude the idea of class and give weddings a casual feel. Some lighter taupe colours can make blonde bridesmaids look pale so be careful with how light to go.
If you have light haired bridesmaids it might be best to go for darker dress tones and keep lighter shades for table decorations, trimmings and favours. For natural, organic themed weddings, pebbles and stones make great table decorations. Rather than having flowers as centrepieces why not display church candles in trays of pebbles?
You could also continue the pebble theme and write guests names on pebbles to use as place-settings. Many brides who opt for neutral colour themes also choose to incorporate shells somewhere in the day. This may involve scattering shells on tables, or indulge guests with a wedding cake covered in chocolate seashells !! You could also have your wedding stationery designed with small shell motifs on them - a great idea if you are having a beach wedding!
However you incorporate natural colour shades in your wedding day, get them in somehow if you want to keep up with bridal trends.
