Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment
Aisha Ahmed
One of the most commonly used ingredients in acne treatment products is benzoyl peroxide. It is found in almost all rub-on treatments available over the counter like creams, lotions, cleansers and acne defense sticks. Since it is employed as a topical or rub-on treatment, it does not guarantee complete acne cure.
If you suffer from mild or moderate acne trying out some good-quality external treatment products is the first thing you should do. They prove to be effective for many people and do not cause many side effects. Same is the case with products that contain benzoyl peroxide.
However, continued use of this chemical may cause irritation or skin rash. It should not be applied if your skin is suffering from wounds or cuts. It also causes dryness and flaking in some people and therefore if you have dry skin you should use it very carefully.
Benzoyl peroxide works by killing the bacteria that are responsible for acne in most cases. If an acne treatment contains this chemical you can be assured that it is safe and will not cause any serious side effects or damage to your skin.
Some people may experience itching, swelling and slight burning. If these symptoms occur you are advised to see a doctor immediately. It is also advisable to avoid other topical treatments as well as beauty products to be used on skin that is being treated with benzoyl peroxide. These products may render it ineffective.
Most of the people who have used creams and lotions containing at least 2.5% benzoyl peroxide have given positive feedback about its performance. With the exception of those who are allergic to this chemical, it can be used to treat a moderate case of acne in people of all ages.
For those who suffer from regular acne breakouts and are frustrated because of this problem, we suggest a thermal acne device known as Zeno acne clearing device. This hand-held electronic device clears away pimples in a matter of hours and because of this reason it is the fastest acne treatment known to date.
